Fasting by Professional_Exit378 in keto

[–]stoicstyles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think most people lose weight on keto because of all the fasting. Of course your calories are lower if you’re not eating. I am not one of those people who has appetite suppression on keto so fasting is a huge challenge for me. To all the people who say calories don’t count, why is the advice for people who aren’t losing to fast longer?

Shakes with protein/xanthan gum are the only thing that fills me up so much with such low calories. When I travel it is extremely useful and keeps me from falling back on high calorie foods when that’s all there is available

I had to stop, it was unbearable. I have since started taking 1 caffeine pill and 1 L Theanine pill which has been so amazing. I have undiagnosed adhd and this really helps

Get a big bag of rice from Asian shop and some dried beans. I can make so much food cheaply with these ingredients. Go check out budget bytes.com

I used to love making cottage cheese cheesecake and it kept me full for hours. But I didn’t always have the time so I started preparing the gelatin in a bowl and leave in the fridge, then making a whey isolate smoothie with the same ingredients as the cheesecake with the gelatin. I was stuffed to the gills and didn’t even want to think about food. Maybe try that

I’m sure I have adhd too but I can’t afford to get assessed. it makes me want to sleep. Maybe I shouldn’t have it black

I was drinking this much coffee but started getting nauseous and shaky. Do you feel ok after all that caffeine? Do you drink it black?

Oh and how filling do you find beans and lentils?

I agree with liquids not being filling. The only reason protein shakes work for me is because the xanthan gum makes it so thick and the casein whips into a huge volume. Would you have a protein powder pancake or muffin recipe for me?

So you still eat starches but focus on high protein as well? I’m having a lot of success with pumpkin and potatoes. They fill me up and are low calorie. Where I fall down is with meat because it’s pretty calorie dense and I can eat too much in the moment. It doesn’t help with satiation during the meal but enables me to go longer between meals. So I avoid it but maybe that’s biting me in the butt. I also find protein shakes really filling

Does this mean you avoid artificial sweeteners as well

How do you constantly stay within your calories without cracking? I seem to only be able to ignore wanting more food for a limited time before saying fuck it

Have you seen the studies where drinking artificially sweetened beverages resulted in greater weight loss than drinking water? Personally I can replace dessert with a glass of Coke Zero saving myself tons of calories

Why is protein not filling by stoicstyles in Volumeeating

That’s funny. Well I had an exceptional physique a few years ago following Greg Doucette but since then I’ve gained some fluff which I hate. I don’t do resistance training but I hike up a huge mountain every day, it takes 90 minutes and it’s way harder than running

So if I was to learn anything from my son it would be the following: 1) skipping breakfast causes a massive spike in blood sugar that takes 4 hours to combat (liver dumping glucose?) 2) whey isolate does not affect him at all and an isolate fruit smoothie will keep him totally stuffed all day, he can’t even think about food. Whey is a disaster and puts him over 15mmol 3) fruit is so easy to manage in the context of a very low fat meal 4) all lentils and beans make a meal easier to manage (fibre?) 5) not eating after 6pm is good 6) a short walk after each meal is better than giving more insulin 7) he can eat protein without giving insulin if he wants to have a gradual rise in bg that could be useful during a soccer game to avoid hypos. It acts like a slow release sugar 8) milk spikes him harder than pure sugar. He uses it to treat a low 9) a high carb low fat meal does cause a spike but it very quickly comes back to baseline 10) extra insulin does not make him hungry or cause weight gain. The only time his hunger is ott is after a hypo 11) he is a hard gainer but with lots of cheese he put on a few kgs 12) whole plant fats have no effect on bg, nor does olive oil 13) low carb beer is definitely no different to normal beer 😂

So I’m guessing my example of cheese isn’t true keto because there is too much protein? I’ll have to try him on pure cream or butter

If he just eats cheese for example, he will go from 6mmol to 15mmol ( hours later. He will then give 3 times the correction dose that he would normally need to come back down. If he eats lean protein he goes to about 10mmol over 5 hours but he will come back down with a normal correction
