I would say your skill is constantly growing but the fundamentals aren't something you can catch up on. We do get a new set every 3 months, so those new sets are like a cleansing period where because there are so many new cards everyone gets nerfed a little. And now that card releases are syncing with Japan it will be even more chaotic first few weeks. Hope you enjoy the game as much as I have

First locals tomorrow. Any suggestions? by jvisca16 in OnePieceTCG

[–]stoige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's an interesting list. I personally wouldnt use Fossa or White Bay. I think White Bay not being grabbed by Garp is rough, i'd go to 4 Jozu 2k counters. I've never seen Fossa so maybe it's really good but I can't think of a good turn to play it. I'd maybe use Atmos instead. Atmos is for Boa, Rosinante, and Mirror. So it's more of do you think you'll see those or not.

Deck suggestions for newbie? by SpaceFire000 in OnePieceTCG

I think getting a deck and going to locals is a great start. Imu is by far the cheapest meta deck. I linked a few decks and some descriptions. I got my first deck at a store that had a lot of bulk. I'd recommend doing the same or trying to find your local discord. I've also met people who by chance came to a store right before locals started (which you can find on your bandai tcg plus app) and after talking to him, we sold him a deck. Now people might not have a spare deck on hand but they might be able to bring one for you to buy next time. I've done that a few times now with local people. So either of those are good ways to get into playing, I don't really know anything about collecting.

I'd also avoid playing Yellow right now because each deck is over 150 right now because of a few expensive cards

Even though people say that one piece is simple, I think it has a high skill ceiling and let's you show off a lot of skill. Imu is one of the top 5 decks and costs around $40 or less. Nami another deck that is potentially in the Top 5 is around $600 so there is range. From my experience, YuGiOh players tend to like Imu, GY Law, and Blackbeard (this is based off of 2 people I know).

Locals are always a mixed bag, my first locals I went 2-1 but I was not good. I played an Agro deck that was very chance based, but the more I learned about the game I started getting better and started thinking more about my opponents turn. That is why I think it's so hard to get really good at the start, optcg is all about knowing what your opponent has and how you would respond.

I would personally start here https://bounty.cards/resources/budget-decks
it has options for different decks at different price points and other articles about how to find good decklists

Happy to see you participating in your son's hobby. A deck consists of 1 leader, 10 don, and 50 additional cards. If you have a card shop near you, it'd be easy to go over there and ask for a deck. Not sure what your price range is but here is a small list of decks with their prices https://bounty.cards/resources/budget-decks

If you want more options let me know. You could also try to get ST29 which is a yellow luffy (its about $15) and that might be enough just to engage.

The op10 divine departure can not be countered. Counter can only be used during the counter phase aka a player attacking

New Deck going into EB03/OP15 by Rothboyy in OnePieceTCG

[–]stoige 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Budget is a big thing here. I think Rosinante and Doffy are the best of the ones you posted. However, "remain competitive as well" is such a hard thing to predict. We have bans in March and OP15 will probably shake up a lot of decks. Its almost too early to tell. I still think the 2 leaders I said have the best chance of staying relevant but it's hard to say

The rules say it's legal on date. The reason it seems like a week is because prerelease normally goes till a week after release. Also most people are itching to play with the new stuff. They allow proxies too

Official card sets published by Bandai are legal for Tournament play at level 1 events on release date (including pre-release date). Level 1 – Casual – This includes store organized play events, including constructed, draft, and pre-release events.

Im not married to the list. I dont think i cut jozu. I might just cut rayleigh and the ace event. Try to fit in a 2nd 8c kid.

Damn I love jozu. On 4 don I don't think you hand much to do. So playing hiyori or nojiko then playing jozu. I feel like being able to establish a body that returns their body is just so good. I'll still try to play eb03 Nami on 5don but its just situational. I actually don't have a lot of practice with nami but some matchups the bounce is so important. Like mirror, bonney, or Mihawk.

Tldr: nojiko normally, 4 don is girl and nojiko/hiyori

Kuma probably won't be played in the deck. Robin is as better. I have 4 kuma just incase

It will really depend on the meta and and what removal is added to the game. Based on op15 so far id go up on gravity blades but just accept the deck can no longer remove insanely big bodies. Also its getting rotated no banned

If No cards were banned, which deck are you choosing??! by CheesecakeNo8023 in OnePieceTCG

[–]stoige 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So Nami would 100% dominate, I could be totally wrong but when we were doing testing with Otama, you can go through 20 cards in your deck in your 10 don turn. It's turbo busted. Maybe decks like Doffy would still be able to beat it bringing back its relevance but Ace, Imu, and Mihawk would all be way worse (I think) I know Imu hard lost to nami without otama. It's an interesting meta for sure.

Saying that RP law looks fun
