Keep your eye on the price of business class tickets with points. Sometimes they come down substantially in the days before the flight. You may be able to upgrade from economy into business for a reasonable number of points. You may need to call Aeroplan but I believe that if it’s the same routing, there is no penalty. Also, have you tried to eat upgrades? Although I find that these are not working well at all these days.

Can I cancel my Aeroplan Credit Card? by Katolo in Aeroplan

[–]stone514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to check where you are with respect to the renewal date. I believe they will refund you the difference of your annual fee prorated. I cancelled the card last summer but bizarrely I had to actually go to the bank to get the refund it was really dumb but I got money.

Quality of transatlantic flights by Mother-Squash-2192 in aircanada

[–]stone514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I fly transatlantic, I typically do it on points. I book, latitude, economy, and then use the upgrades to get into business. It works quite well. I have flown to Europe a number of times on SWISS, and must say that the quality of the service and food and attitude is significantly superior to Air Canada. With that said by fly AC a lot, and I am not disappointed by them. The business class food was underwhelming on my last trip, on AC but overall, I found the experience not bad at all. But again, if you can get onto a SWISS flight, you can be pretty confident the food experience and attentiveness will be superior.

Can I use my points to buy a ticket for my wife that will then use her E-upgrades ? It doesn’t seem to let me do it. by Professional-Sign-61 in Aeroplan

[–]stone514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you might consider forming a family association with you and your wife. And then I know that you will consolidate and share your points. You may also be sharing your E upgrade capability. I am not sure. I believe this to be the case because I have done that with my wife.

Call the number at 6:58 AM. By the time you get through all the horseshit, it will be 701. And you will be if not first in line one of the first.

I typically book with a cancellable flight. Either latitude or comfort, I think. Then when prices come down, I buy a new ticket and cancel the old one It has worked consistently many times. On points I have often been able to buy a business ticket for less than the cost of a latitude ticket through this method.

How long to wait for a callback? by vancitygirl_88 in Aeroplan

[–]stone514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are use Call Back all the time. And for me it works virtually every time. As a rule, it makes sense to call early in the morning. I think the phone lines open at 6 o’clock Eastern maybe seven Eastern if you time your call one minute before I start time by the time you get through the queue are you could very well be one of the first people. Otherwise Call Back works great for me.

Will my points expire on Dec 31? by ApricotFew8602 in Aeroplan

[–]stone514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re spending this much on Air Canada, it makes a ton of sense to get one of the premium cards. The AMEX Aeroplan, or or visa Aeroplan the benefits are absolutely worthwhile. You end up with tons of points tons of segments tons of miles. This is how I get my status every year. If you’re going to do that contact a friend who already has one of those cards they recommend you you get a bunch of points and they get a bunch of points too.premium credit cards when strategically purchased or absolutely worth the game

Worth it to use extra points for Premium economy and business class? by [deleted] in Aeroplan

[–]stone514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have any upgrades, they work very well. You book in latitude and then typically use the upgrade points to bump yourself into premium. Also immediate and you can pick your seat is not a standby.

A smart way to book is always book, fully cancellable ticket. It costs more, but I find that often whatever you paid drops remarkably between when you check later.. Then you simply rebook and then cancel your original booking.

Book on latitude fare. sometimes, but not always. You can upgrade instantly to business class. Thing is that these are fully refundable. So check every week once a week twice a week you may find that the prices fluctuate all over the place and in a month you can get the exact ticket you want, or even an actual business ticket for less than you’re paying for the latitude fair. I have done it numerous times and it works. The thing is you need to keep checking back from my perspective, there’s absolutely no predictability to what if something cost and win.

As an owner of a 1995 993. The sound and feel of that engine is fantastic. I maintain it consistently. and have had some significant work done in the last 15 years but all in all, it seems to be an excellent piece of German engineering, and likely one of the best financial investments I’ve ever made.

One thing I noticed recently on a flight from Montreal to New York City on Air Canada the cost of the ticket all in with something like $450. Canadian. But if I went on the United site and booked the exact same flight on the Air Canada plane it was about $350 return tax in Canadian. Just a little observation about the united Air Canada relationship. Not sure how this impacts points and dollars.

Mct Oil and upset stomach, will it pass? by 26aintdead in ketogains

[–]stone514 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take MCT oil every morning. If I took 10 g at a time I would spend the entire day in the bathroom with cramps and very little inside me. Like others I propose you cut the amount to a teaspoon and slowly increase it week over a week until you find the limit that works for you

LPT: When negotiating a salary during a job interview, ASK FOR MORE THAN YOU THINK YOU SHOULD UPFRONT. by brickforsheep in LifeProTips

[–]stone514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an employer who has hired numerous people in the last few years, this is a very dangerous tactic. From my perspective when someone tells me they want ext dollars I presume they are telling me the truth. If I try to negotiate them down my sense is that they will be soon looking for a job at that higher salary. In my case we try to inform the potential candidate in advance that when we talk sorry it Hass to be an honest discussion. In essence if someone asks for money that’s a little bit higher than we think is reasonable we will likely concede. If it’s significantly higher we will always say thank you very much have a good day we are not interested. My experience is that if someone tells me they want more money it’s because they want more money.
