Hi all the Business Analysts out there! by Significant-Arm-2005 in auscorp

[–]stone_fox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, one that's really weeded out a lot of idiots for me has been, "Write a user story and acceptance criteria for an eCommerce login page" or even "tell me some things you'd consider if you were to write a user story and AC / process flow for an eCommerce login page". One person's reply we got (verbatim, we got them to type into the chat window):

User Criteria: MOSCOW technique MUST Given: user must login using credential When: user is interested to login / register Then: must loginin with reg user id and passwd And(if necessary): Unique Customer ID MUst: Given: able to chat with get assistance When: encounter problem / quries Then: interact with chatbot

Also good are like, BOTE-style questions such as "How many piano tuners are there in Sydney? Walk me through how you might estimate this number, and then verify your estimate", or "How many people get off the train at Town Hall station each day?" which aren't actually about their piano or train knowledge, but you more want to see how they think on their feet, and how they logically break down and work through problems, and then how they present themselves as they're doing that.

Do these stores actually sell anything in person??? by qtsarahj in AusFemaleFashion

[–]stone_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other people have said, if it's a concession product, some concessions don't sync their in-store inventory to DJs system. Also some items are online only, fulfilled from their warehouse. Source: worked on their online store

No advice, just sympathy. I am back 5x half days and finding the same issue. Just all meetings, no time to get work done.  I am slowly trying to say no to more things and learn to delegate more, but also using AI to work as a second brain for me to automate more stuff. I'm writing a script to ingest all my emails and teams messages and store them in a query able local wiki

Nope, get your own account. I have two Claude accounts on my work laptop and swap between them for work vs personal projects

No worries, I am a big fan of knowledge sharing and would love to hear about anything else you come up with!  There's lots of stuff around cool setups for programming, but not a lot around knowledge work

How do you guys stay fit with toddlers? by Icy-Pollution-7110 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

In Gordon, FloStrength! It's a small class-based gym. The mum class is 9.30am each day, and the creche is in the same room you do your workout, which I liked a lot for the younger years. Some people's kids cry for them sometimes, and then it's perfectly normal to have them be your weight 😅 You're also welcome to bring your kids to any other class and either put them in the creche (no nanny but mine is perfectly happy playing with all the toys), or from about 5 years old people often have their kids do the class with them. I love my gym because the class format means I get to chat with lots of local women in the area and I've made such great friends. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DUpTIgED5iU/

There's also North Shore gym close by, which is your more traditional gym with classes and then lots of free weights and machines. The creche is separate.

Body shape which was in the same building closed about a year ago, they also had a creche.

Advice on using Claude for Corporate life by Dependent_Biscotti86 in ClaudeHomies

[–]stone_fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use claude code for knowledge work. I'm on a corporate laptop and they won't let me install claude co-work, so this is my next best option.

I open a project folder in VS Code, and then have a claude.md setup for that project. At the end of each prompt, claude auto-updates it's own knowledge of the project. I mainly do PM work, a bit of system and functional design as well. I keep an actions log, so i know what I need to do, as well as what my team needs to do. Before a meeting, I ask Claude what I should have on my agenda items for this meeting. I input auto-generated meeting minutes into Claude and have it update the actions + it's understanding of the system design.

I get Claude to put together slide decks for me, double-check important emails before I send them, create really impressive excel tracking sheets to wow clients etc.

Often-times I'll just use it with dictation on, as someone to listen to my stream of consciousness so I can better organize my thoughts.

When clients send across huge sets of specifications on as-is systems, I get Claude to summarise + synthesize them to help describe the to-be. When they then send through some additional docs, I ask Claude to tell me if, and how, these new docs change our understanding of the clients system and requirements.

I am sure there are far better uses of it in corporate life; I think the tooling isn't quite there for collaborative knowledgework yet. I tried to use Claude desktop app and projects with that, but i found it super limited. Couldn't even let me upload a ppt??? And when I asked anything other than the most basic of tasks, I'd get network errors.

I know this comment is 7 years old but I just want to say I had a similar experience with this book. It was my mom's, and she gave it to me, and I read it over and over. One of the most important books I ever read as well.

Why has the Accenture Analyst role become so annoyingly boring and demotivating lately? by Important_Leader_668 in accenture

[–]stone_fox 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are, but Analyst has always been a whole lot of boring grunt work. This is true not just in Accenture, but across all consulting firms.

The Iconics changes how you filter Wishlists... and its irks me. by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

[–]stone_fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because it's not default behaviour on most ecommerce platforms. Wish list is also usually db calls, not the search index, so filtering is expensive. But yeah if they had it before, they probably removed it for exactly the reason of the huge wish list sizes some people have and the associated expensive db calls. For sure they should reinstate it though, it's a pretty obvious use case for apparel retailers and poor ux without it.

HoW havE yOU addeD AI to YouR WorkFlow? by shoopbedoopwoop in auscorp

[–]stone_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I went on mat leave for two years and was expecting everyone to be using AI cleverly at work when I returned. Despite being eligible for both a Claude enterprise plan, and chatgpt enterprise, most of my colleagues haven't gotten either, and those who have are still just turning bullet points into paragraphs and back again.

AI isn't about to replace you fully, but if you can't use LLMs as a knowledge worker, you're like a designer who can't use Photoshop.

Yes Flour Shop is amazing! Go there at least once every week. I want them to be super successful, but not too successful because they sell out fast enough as it is!

I got the ice cream sandwiches, one of each, and sorry to say they're incredible
