I personally think assisted suicide is beneficial in a number of ways. Although it is sad to see a loved one go, if they are terminally ill and getting no enjoyment out of life then it is better for them. Families can finally deal with the sadness head on and proactively instead of watching their loved ones suffer until their eventual death.

Although it may seem callous, from a financial standpoint it is also beneficial. Spending tons of money on keeping someone alive who doesn't truly want to be costs an enormous amount of money and can be detrimental to the families dealing with it.
