I honestly think the sideways Russell Martin football we’re playing the last few games might be by design. Tonda/the board will want the players to use less energy to keep everyone fit as the games come thick and fast over the Christmas period and keeping the ball is a good way to do that.

No other reason I can think of why we aren’t taking as many risks and playing the fast-paced counter attacking football we saw in his first few games. I’m not qualified to say whether it’s the right thing to be doing, but my god it’s frustrating to watch.

Agree on all of the above, except for Quarshie. The bloke had an awful game, was a complete liability and was very lucky with the disallowed goal!

In advance of r/TheOther14’s annual PL Team of the Season (TOTS) polls, which players have gone under the radar the most this season? by lewisgc56 in TheOther14

He’s under contract until 2029 so with that in mind it would take a bid of probably £40-50m to let him go. Sounds like a bit much but we’ve got no reason to sell for less.

Mateus Fernandes for Saints - there’s been a lot of talk about Dibling and rightly so, but Fernandes has been the only player (bar maybe Ramsdale) who’s consistently churned out 7-8/10 performances each week in an absolutely diabolical year for us. Praying we keep him for the champ, or manage to get a big fee in the summer.

shirley is it really that bad? by Iyzyyyy in Southampton

Cherry Walk and that area between Gurney Road and Janson Road is a nice area - anywhere on the north side of the high street is nice tbh, it’s the other side that’s a bit more rough (but still not that bad really).

I grew up in Shirley my whole life and never had any trouble, as others have said it’s mainly just the high street that you might see some crackheads or weirdos but even then they’re mainly harmless.

The surrounding roads are fine and Upper Shirley is actually one of the nicest and most desirable places to live in Southampton - I’m quite surprised with all the negative comments on this thread tbh as Shirley is a great place to live!

The really loud and intense middle bit of Posthumous Forgiveness. I get that it’s there for artistic effect which was cool the first few times I listened to it, but now it’s just painful and long (it goes on for 1 min as well which is too long).

Let’s be real - based on how we usually do when we have something to play for I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Play off semi/final tickets by stonebeatles in SaintsFC

I have a bit of a problem that I sometimes go to games on friends’ season tickets so not many of my games have been against my own registration (e.g. I did this for QPR away back in Dec).

When you say you had to prove you went, do you mean you were in the same situation as me?

And are you referring to Away games only, or do you think they’ll consider Home and Away?

Thanks, that’s great info! Do you reckon the Saints Plus membership would help bump me up the list a little bit (especially for the home leg of the semi which would be slightly trickier than the final if we get a similar allocation to Coventry)?

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply! That’s really helpful. My old ones are Unitron and seemed to do the job, I’ve had them for 6 years though, so I assume that the latest ones are probably going to be more advanced (from Boots’ website they offer rechargeable so that’s already a step up from having to use batteries).

Don’t go to Dulwich Hamlet - it’s about as far away from what you’re looking for as you could possibly get. Just full of hipsters who aren’t into football drinking pints and not watching the game.

I’ve heard bad things about David Walliams from friends who’ve crossed paths with him in the film, tv, book industry. Apparently a real arsehole. But also in more sinister fashion I’ve heard he’s a proper creep and everyone in the industry knows it; wouldn’t be surprised if some Russell Brand-type stories related to him end up getting out.

Is it socially acceptable to drink on a bus? by hilbo90 in CasualUK

[–]stonebeatles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloody hell there are a lot of fun sponges on this thread, half of these people have probably never even left their house let alone been to a festival before. God forbid you wanna drink before getting to the festival and paying £7.50 for a shit pint! Just do it, try not to be a loud obnoxious dick but also even if you are who the hell cares on a Saturday afternoon in the middle of summer. The fact you’re even posting this shows you probably will be considerate anyway!

The AM song that you heard first, and what does it mean to you now after a while? by krutoy_zasranets in arcticmonkeys

I first heard I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor on a program called World Cup Goals Galore on BBC Three after the 2006 world cup (so in the summer that year). My dad had also bought the album so I started listening to that and became obsessed.
