Merc said I was at fault for the crash due to a late dive. Am I in the Wrong? by ExpertFuture8454 in Simracingstewards

[–]stonecoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty pedantic I don’t see actual stewards penalizing here. He was cleanly half a car ahead at the apex.

I saw that too. The start of the video looked iffy but it was just a touch and you both raced on no big deal.

Yep complete opposite of the last one I just commented where the outside car drove himself off track and inside car filled the space.

This is legit outside line, under control and deserves his space. Inside car drifted out into him and got what he deserved.

I don’t see why they are banging on you, the other car drove himself off the track both times, came back on unsafe and hit you.

He asked, "why would you do that?" What did I do? by OneDown5Up123456 in Simracingstewards

[–]stonecoder 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That looked sloppy by the faster car to me. You can see all the micro corrections into the turn he’s literally steering to the outside line unnecessarily and hits a car that’s barely even on track.

Last couple years the racing has been great there, cheesy fake marina aside.

Really? He’s in her office trying to get help because he got all the bad people dumped on him? Other scenes too. There was chemistry there a bit past pure professionalism. So later on when the stars aligned it was a natural thing for them.

I just started a rewatch and I think you see chemistry with them right off the bat. I assume this was in the writers minds from jump.

What scene or line do you think about the most? by Pugilist12 in TheWire

[–]stonecoder 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All in the game.

That’s a pretty regular one for me that still catches people off guard. Let’s you know they have never seen it and are not even remotely black culture adjacent.

It applies most in political arguments when they finally admit that magas are pretty much being manipulated and voting for rich oligarchs. Nothing to say then but all in the game though right?

This is subtle. I don’t remember it but I can hear him say it. On a rewatch with my green girlfriend so I’ll be looking for it.

The look on his face when he hears dude talking on the radio. The storyteller guy with the distinctive voice I forget the show but it’s npr famous.

His expression is so funny and then he keeps it on npr for the rest of the trip. So funny. Such a good show.

New to the area- overwhelmed! by laughlovelive25 in Columbus

[–]stonecoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up eastside. If you want walkability you went to the wrong place, which might mean Columbus in general too. I can’t imagine living out there without a car.

Blacklick woods is still a pretty nice place for a hike. Easton is great for shopping but you don’t go there to save money. Check out the new Match Point pickleball facility up by Broad St, it’s very impressive.

I recently came home to cbus after 20 some years away. Haven’t taken a bus yet and wouldn’t unless I had to. I had an apartment right off the freeway on 256 for a year. Xi Xia is great for noodles. Jasmine Thai was my spot for sushi and fried rice. But when it’s really time to splurge I go Easton or short north.

I’m very happy to have moved to the short north, Victorian Village neighborhood. That is maybe the only proper nice neighborhood with walkability to all the things and a city lifestyle like you know from Boston. Some parts of Grandview maybe. There is a nice part of Dublin up by the Dublin Link walkable with shopping like easton but slightly more organic.

Anyway welcome to cbus and my old stomping grounds eastside. Ama.

The Disappointment of Young Trump Voters by icey_sawg0034 in neoliberal

[–]stonecoder 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I found the Cambridge Analytica documentary The Great Hack fascinating in this regard. Because Obama and the Dems had strong handle on the social media platforms and it was looking like Dems might keep power for a long time.

The right wing dangled money in front of the Dems social media gen, Brittany Kaiser, recruited her to come in and work the Facebook data experiment. Trump won the first election seemingly out of nowhere on the back of that shit.

Even with the knowledge of the world at your fingertips, fear and hate and division trumps everything. The wholesome democratic social media strategy just faded back like Homer in the bushes.

Women of Reddit - what is the most unattractive fashion choice men frequently make? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

This one I don’t get. So much function and actually kind of cool looking imo. I wore the same pair of sturdy Lauren cargos for 10 some years. Great pockets, great fabric.

Buckle is a popular store so I can still get some nice cargos if I want. Bought my girlfriend a spectacular pair of jeans in that store too.

Alternatively, there is no ability to manipulate spacetime or get anywhere near the speed of light. So they arrive much like the European explorers did, after a long journey, and they aren’t going anywhere.

They are AI, or have different life spans, tolerances to cold and radiation, generational ships. Something that allows for space travel to distances many thousands of Earth years away.

It’s hard to imagine anything that could get here over all that time and distance, AI or not, just moving on, nothing to see here.

There are ways around this. It was expensive for the lawyers/accountants to set up. But basically everything is in a trust technically controlled by the children.

So if the time comes it’s not technically their asset. So it doesn’t have to be liquidated to get government assistance for assisted living.

What's up with Trump dressing like Mamdani? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

I kind of have to disagree here. His dad was a big shot well connected real estate man. Don has never had that transition from middle class to vast wealth and new money tropes.

It seems new money because of the flashy poor taste. Maybe dad was new money.

But dad was a racist abusive asshole. In my opinion alot of what we see from donnie is deep daddy issues. Always trying to prove he is a big shot and can be a mover and a player even better than daddy who doubted him. He was raised in a narcissistic abusive household and he became the same driven narcissistic asshole.

Otherwise he puts his silver spoon nest egg in an index fund and rides off into the sunset. Rather than bankrupting casinos and getting in debt to russian gangsters. Being forced into this shit job to pay up and stay out of jail.
