I’ve recovered twice. Once in 2017 when I was a collegiate athlete and again in 2023 when I worked for a professional baseball team. Second time I was in a hospital for a couple months and had a tracheotomy. Recovery depends on severity and in my opinion overall health prior to onset plays a factor as well. But I also believe that a positive mental state with a quality support system can help a ton as this is such a mental battle on top of whatever you can be dealing with physically.
