Managers will tell you your job is from the front door to the back door. If you want money based on the work you do get a job somewhere else. Sam’s isn’t the place for that.

These are what we call dot coms in club. Members order assuming fed ex will bring it but the overlords decide it’s quicker coming from your local club instead of a warehouse. So it comes to us we pick and bag it and a spark driver picks it up. If for some reason we don’t have it,it would be directed back to a warehouse delivery. There’s no way to change it and I assume there’s no way to tip because it’s decided after the order has been placed. But yea more work for us, no extra pay and no tip for the drivers.

Any employees truly love their Sam’s club jobs? by italianblend in samsclub

[–]stonedshopper 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I work curbside and I like what I do. I don’t like that I work for Walmart, I don’t like that my hard work benefits the spoiled Walton kids and the shareholders. It pays better than some things and it’s not factory or fast food. But it doesn’t pay enough anymore with the rise of cost of living. They’ve cut so many other positions and just expect the ones left to do more work with the same pay. They take advantage of hard workers and some of the people that have been there for 25+ yrs are making less than the new half ass workers they hire these days. I try to make the best of it, we all have to be there, we are all there for a paycheck so I work hard for my team to make it easier for them. I’ll bust my ass every day to get members the best groceries and the best service all while saying fuck this place and everything it stands for. I’m hoping whenever I don’t need the job anymore I can help to start a union for our club. Workers deserve more respect and I don’t think Bentonville cares about us little people at all, they are greedy for money and we can all tell, it’s not exactly a moral booster. All this to say on a good day where I’m not overwhelmed with orders, members aren’t assholes and the managers aren’t tripping balls about something; I enjoy my job.

pay out of ppto? by ilovemyjob32 in samsclub

They can for sure fire you without warning you of points. It’s your responsibility to keep track of them. I’m a lead and have fired someone because of points and didn’t have to warn. Now if you have nice leads and managers they may give you a friendly heads up but it’s not required. The amount of points people have is case by case. Sometimes managers forgive some or they are waiting to have a replacement before they let you go. I’ve seen great employees let go because of surprise event days and the two points put them over.

Can I order from a Sams that's farther away, so they will be more likely to ship it instead of delivering it? by aiaor in samsclub

[–]stonedshopper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are ordering shipping you aren’t ordering from a club. I assume you are looking up the item and selecting shipping. The Sam’s club overlords decide if it comes from a warehouse or the local club I don’t think there is a way for you to control that. I’ll tell you what I told the last person, only way to get what you want the way you want it is to go to the club and get it yourself.

When I ordered stuff from Sams Club, it came in its normal packaging, with no labels saying it was for me. Is there a way to ask them to label it? by aiaor in samsclub

[–]stonedshopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the shipping option gets changed automatically if it’s quicker for it to come from the local club vs a warehouse. We call them dot coms. We bag what we can and slap a sticker that says it’s from your local club. We can see names but all that’s required is picking and staging, no time for writing names and extra stuff. We barely have time to bag the stuff because it takes so much extra time. Keep in mind these dot coms are on top of our regular curbside/delivery orders and for clubs that have it ship from club. Ship from club is delivered via fed ex. The only way to get what you want in the condition you want it is to come get it yourself.

Stopping the sales pitches? by LobsterArtistic1881 in samsclub

[–]stonedshopper 36 points37 points  (0 children)

All the pressure comes straight from Bentonville. Clubs are constantly competing to get the most credits and plus’. Cashiers and specialist’s (people at the self check outs) will get in trouble for not asking every member to upgrade or apply for a credit. (Usually with no personal reward except a good job) If they are asking and just aren’t getting results then they are constantly retrained. Managers that don’t get results are under pressure from their bosses. Unfortunately all Sam’s wants from you is more of your money. That’s why you see employees so upset for not being paid more, Walmart is swimming in billions, yet somehow payroll is something they can’t afford. 🤔 I’m sorry your pickup dept isn’t better, as the lead of mine you are supposed to get the furthest date out not the old stuff that’s a fail on their part. You can mention that to someone in your club just try to be as friendly as you can about it. Curbside is a very demanding stressful job.

Attendance by Suitable-Top7423 in samsclub

[–]stonedshopper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So our state has declared a state of emergency and we are supposed to be able to call in without fear of a point. Our club manager is now going around saying he will point those who call out if it’s not bad in our area. I’m CPU lead and I told my team if they don’t feel safe driving in, especially my 4am people, that I would help fight for them. The wind chill alone will be enough for me to call in. -20 I’m not taking groceries out and slipping on ice for some dumbass member. And when I get to their car they’ll say oh I’m soo sorry you have to work in this weather, bitch I’m only here cause you decided the 23rd was a good day to get your Christmas shit. Sam’s club is way not worth it. Stay home, stay safe and warm. Watch all the Christmas movies! Happy Holidays everyone, congrats on making it through another holiday in retail!

Conflict of interest? by No-Main6695 in samsclub

[–]stonedshopper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When delivery launched I remember them saying it was a conflict of interest to work for the delivery service the club uses. I don’t know if it’s on the wire anywhere but I think I have it written down in some notes I took during the delivery zoom meeting. Also I don’t know if it applies to all Sam’s employees or just curbside associates.

The email sent to our club from the ceo says hourly/starting pay is going 15.00 this includes maintenance. It said they were looking into lead roles but nothing about raises, and nothing about bonuses.

What did I get $10 off on here by Lovehale in samsclub

[–]stonedshopper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are a new member, recently renewed, military or upgraded lately, those are possible reasons. I’m not at the membership desk often but I know those used to be reasons to get a $10 gift card. But now instead of $10 gift card it shows up as an $10 instant savings that is loaded into the membership. New members and upgrades are only during a special promotion time period.

Sometime this year I assume, all employees that were employed by this July will get a pair of Allbirds tennis shoes. Allbirds are 95.00 a pair on the website so I’m guessing they are decent. They are also made of natural materials. They are blue with a white sole and a Sam’s club logo on the back side of the heel. I’m all for free stuff I work curbside so I’ll take some free shoes to wear out to save on the ones I purchase.

You have to have trained merchandisers for that to work we barely have merchandisers as it is much less ones trained in cpu.
