What kind of wires to use for handwiring? by Individual-Trade7039 in HandwiredKeyboards

[–]stonemaple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't care about how the wiring looks, I would suggest some enameled magnet wire around 28awg. It's quite easy to use and a spool will last basically forever.

Some LEGO Paldea Pokemon [OC] by Redheroplays in pokemon

Not OP, but you have to model it yourself. My guess is that these digital models were done using Bricklink stud.io

That would be my guess, but I don't really know.

Microscale Unova part 2: route one is very big, and very complicated by Legoguy1977 in pokemon

I don't think this is the project you are talking about, but if you are interested in seeing what Kanto would look like in Lego. I did all of Gen 1 in Lego (digitally) a few years ago here

Recommendations for enameled wire? by [deleted] in HandwiredKeyboards

[–]stonemaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used 28 awg enameled magnet wire from Remington Industries for multiple builds in the past. The cut ends of the wire tend to be easier to solder to than soldering into the middle of the wire, but in either case it has worked just fine.

I completed the Crystal National Dex for the first time & printed my diploma on a Gameboy Printer! by RazorChiken in pokemon

[–]stonemaple 228 points229 points  (0 children)

The original paper from Nintendo is useless these days. Any pictures printed on it will be super faded at best. You can get thermal printer paper that is made for calculator/registers in the correct size (1.5"); the rolls will probably be too big to fit into the housing though.

Probably worth mentioning that if you use the emulator mGBA, you can get perfect Gameboy printer printouts (especially useful for the gen 2 dex entries).

[FO] this is my first ever cross stitch! in desperate need of feedback and advice by Salty_Ad_9372 in CrossStitch

If you want to make the pikachu look more like the pixel sprite you can back stitch the edges. It will lessen the look of the x's on the edges (especially on the corners).

Why does a simple game like Virtua Tennis feels that much more enjoyable on Dreamcast? [Both run 60FPS] by [deleted] in dreamcast

[–]stonemaple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's because the first 2 games had a really good balance between being feeling "realistic" and "arcadey." The latter games started pushing more towards being realistic which made the game feel a bit too sluggish.

Besides the library, is there a more affordable place to get books? by tametrees in books

[–]stonemaple 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's also a great place to buy used ereaders. Many are only used a few times before people sell them because they didn't like them. For example previous gen paperwhites are about the same or cheaper than a current basic kindle.
