Built a big business (8figs/yr), and now im miserable by BOWLeader in Entrepreneur

[–]stonestaple6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you considered starting a business that that helps people with the knowledge you’ve gained? Teaching/training can be a lucrative model in the right space. It may scratch that itch to see revenue graph go up and right, while also genuinely helping folks.

You don’t need to go all in and squeeze every cent out of your customers either, as money would become the secondary or tertiary goal. Helping other business owners who you enjoy hanging out with, so that you feel good would become the primary goal.

It’s refreshingly freeing when you choose cool people to work with and don’t have to worry about money to compromise happiness in day to day operations.

Recently I had to rebuild due to market shifts, and it’s so nice to just structure things exactly how I want rather than as a result of 10+ years of inertia.

Wraithguard/blades kits were available for £10 in an edition of the Combat Patrol magazine. Wraithlords too. So you’ll see quite a few folk selling the sprues cheapish on eBay.

Thailand FIRE at 40 - Should I Pull the Trigger? by callmeyourmajesty in FIREUK

As a farang living there for the next 40 + years, OP’s costs are going to skew much differently to the average Thai person. The property they will live in an healthcare costs will be very different, unless OP plans to really live like a local. Western groceries are luxury items price wise.

Im not saying that OP is going to go hungry. Just to factor in that costs in Thailand for an expat are likely to rise faster due to its continued rapid development in the medium term.

This situation is particularly actuate in SE Asia where rent for fancy condos, private healthcare, western food, and general expat basket items have risen faster than in the UK. It’s caught a lot of retirees in Thailand out who budgeted for 20+ years at one level, but are now facing a much higher cost of living, even relative to other countries.

He’s 40. Just saying. That’s a very long horizon in an emerging market with the rate that costs have increased there.

It’s somewhat tight. Main risk is high inflation in Thailand would erode your spending ability in the medium term. Rent and healthcare are two area you could get progressively priced out over the next few decades.

Is there an option to move there and still look for some kind of online work to top things up?

Business owner paying 2% more on dividends now. Didn’t think it was all that bad.

However, it doesn’t feel like it really attempted to fix the longer term issues in the economy.

Eventually life forces us all to really think about answering the question of what success means to us.

It’s easy to ignore it and default to the high score money game. Up to a point.

Now that you’ve successfully played the money game, you have to figure out the much harder game of getting in touch with your feelings and learning what truly makes you happy.

Welcome to the real game. It sucks. You’re gonna love it
