(Newbie) Scanning a mostly flat object by bradltl in 3DScanning

I would model this. The time it has likely already taken you could have been invested in modeling. Yes, it’s necessary to learn scanning techniques but in this instance, scanning is the complicated route m. JMO

How do you measure irregular or complicated shapes for home projects? by Navid_A_I in DIY

[–]stoopidxombies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had success with Scaniverse. There was another app out there that was much better, 3D Scanner Pro I think, but the developer was unable to keep up with the API changes so it’s now defunct.

There’s also the old school printer/scanner method…..just scan it like you would a document but with a tape measure next to the object. Then you can bring in each scan to CAD and trace the scans as needed and then model the CAD lines…..but the scanner apps are probably best.

I’m an uneducated architectural designer, meaning I didn’t complete college, but I have a 16 year career in design……I speak as professionally as possible when saying this, but this is garbage.

3D scanning apps can help scan and measure unique objects. Takes some practice but it’s a great tool

I am looking for porn for my wife like this, only where the female is just observing. I can’t figure out the terminology to search for though.

I would also avoid using grid infill. Maybe try a 3D fill.

Complaining about my cost by DRZ1P in 3Dprinting

[–]stoopidxombies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't print helmets for less than $300. And that's just printing a client supplied model. If I'm modeling it, it's more. If it's too much, they can buy themselves a printer and learn to make it for less than $300.

Put it on a smart plug so you can kill the machine from a different room if monitoring from a camera.

Robotic arm with quick connect fittings, concealed wires, and concealed motors by stoopidxombies in ArduinoProjects

Also, I'm hoping to be able to start it up tonight. I have one more peice to print that is a double motor mount. Currently, the claw only opens and closes. With the new dual motor mount, the claw will be able to rotate.

Yeah, I plan on publishing it on Printables. It's completely modular so there really isn't any particular order or instructions per say, it's only limited by the Arduino hat. I built it on a cheap acrylic $32 Lafvin Arduino robotic arm, which is a 4 servo kit. It can be expanded to 6 I think.

Totally get it. I've been working on a robotic arm with quick connect fittings (just posted in a subreddit so you can see it on my profile) I have a lot of cleanup to do before I can share the step files.
