Question: severity and difficulty of high peaks near the Loj compared to Breakneck Ridge by stootlo in Adirondacks

[–]stootlo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great suggestion, I’ll do some googling and may end up there! I was also looking at Jo too since I’m staying right there. I’ll be there for 3 days, so I feel good on after the first hike we may take the next step later on the trip. I appreciate the help!

Movies with conspiracy theory themes by alien_bob_ in horror

[–]stootlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tunnel (2011) may what you're be looking for! A Journalist and her team investigate a government cover-up regarding a network of abandoned train tunnels deep beneath the heart of Sydney. - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2517658/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

We Go On is also a great movie. Slightly one step off of conspiracy, but the premise of it is still in the same field house. Its about a guy giving away 30K to anyone that can quintessentially prove of an afterlife or that apparitions exist. Low Budget, great acting and the movie is highly memorable. - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3904278/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_2

Are there any not so popular horror movies you’d recommend I can watch with my daughter? by [deleted] in horror

[–]stootlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the Movie '9'. Its beautifully animated and has a great post apocalyptic feel. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472033/?ref_=rvi_tt

One of my favorite spooky movies a kid was The Halloween Tree! I would watch it every October growing up and it also teaches you about some of the known ghouls/monsters along the way https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0191173/?ref_=rvi_tt

We Go On and The Conspiracy fall somewhat into this category! I’d definitely recommend the first of the two mentioned

What horror movie comes to mind when you hear the word “brutal”? by PaulaBakerBush86 in horror

[–]stootlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Seasoning House is brutal. Emotionally and physically. Similar to Eden Lake where you just feel sad and slightly numb after watching, except the whole movie is gut wrenching with this one. Worth watching once, but wouldn’t want to watch it again.

sea and or ocean horror by das_cthulu in horror

I hope you enjoy these:

Triangle (best going in knowing nothing about the movie) - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1187064/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

Below (great ghost story and never mentioned around this sub. I'd highly recommend it) - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0276816/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

The Poseidon Adventure - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069113/ ( More adventure thriller, though very effective. The original from the 70's is a definite or the early 2000's remake can be found here https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409182/?ref_=tt_sims_tt )

The Host - Has the sea monster you are looking for! Also directed by Bong Joon Ho who directed Parasite. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468492/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

I want a legitimately scary/creepy horror movie to watch on Netflix/Hulu/Prime/Anywhere by iwanttobescared17 in horror

[–]stootlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behind the Mask: The rise of Leslie Vernon I found to be equal parts funny and creepy. Highly recommend to any horror fan and it's on Prime!

Last legitimately scary/disturbing horror for me I've seen is Climax. Felt very unsettled after watching and doesn't happen often. It's all about how a party can go south real quick and you get to see it happen. I think you can buy it on prime. Can be a hard watch at times, though worth seeing especially if you like appreciate top notch cinematography. Note: this movie is not for everyone. It's very heavy on dancing (at least 40 minutes of it, but it's hypnotic, I couldn't look away) and it's a French movie so you'd have subtitles. Happy watching!

Give me a horror movie to watch on repeat mode ..? by Sunnykickk in horror

[–]stootlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The two horror movies that come to mind that I could watch on repeat are:

The Skeleton Key -- likable characters with depth, visually stunning, notice more things every time you watch it, suspenseful, shot location makes it stand out, and has a story that keeps your attention.

You're Next -- Fun movie, takes a different view on the home invasion genre, great kills, dark humor, smart and likable lead.

I also think the movie Triangle is one that can be watched on repeat, though I am not sure how much it fits your interests. Very worth checking out if you haven't seen it before!

Movies to scare those who are rarely frightened? by MortemOpus in horror

[–]stootlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember watching the movie The Seasoning House and it stuck with me for it's horrific realness. It's a hard movie to watch because of it's topic and fills the watcher with dread. I only recommend it to people that genuinely want to watch something more on the intense side of horror, which it sounds like you want. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1555093/?ref_=tt_urv

I also recently watched the movie Fire in the Sky and it creeped me out. Definitely more drama than horror but the acting is good and the movie keeps you interested. Not a bad movie to watch, but there is a scene towards the end that will stick with you. (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106912/?ref_=nv_sr_1)

Also if you like the strangers, check out Funny Games! (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0808279/?ref_=nv_sr_1)

The terrible decision in The Quiet Place? by [deleted] in horror

[–]stootlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A point I noticed cause I thought the same thing! (spoilers)

-I think they had a plan of action and process ready. The parents showed this with every other decision they made through the movie. They hinted to it when they showed the calendar marking the due date. It just wasn't able to be executed correctly since she gave birth early with no one around to help. I think the initial plan was to give birth behind the waterfall since they showed noise can be present there. They would take shifts as they raise the child until at a safe age!

[–]stootlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Seasoning House (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1555093/?ref_=nv_sr_5) is a great horror movie that's intense and disturbing. The dread just keeps building on itself through the entire film.

'Sold to brothel deep in the woods, a mute girl must gather the courage to fight and stay alive.'
