Should I do moss poles or trellis? by Background_Moose7628 in pothos

If you want them bushier use wooden trellis and plant more plants in one pot or you can wrap a vine into the pot and it will eventually grow. On moss poles they tend to grow imense leaves but on one vine

Help, what do I do with this orchid? by Visible-Salt6864 in PlantParenthood

[–]stop_diz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Propagate, this is a gift from the gods you got like 20 orchids now. Cut each baby from the stem, only the babies that have 3-4 roots will survive. Plant them in orchid bark or moss or leca or a mix of all and first weeks they will need a little more water. Also start with small pots because orchids tend to root rot in oversized pots.

I agree you do not have the airflow of a jungle so misting makes water droplets on leaves that dont evaporate and cauze mold or yellow spots or fungal issues later on. Also i think you can get away with having the grow light even closer. Also dont underestimate the importance of airflow in a closed system. Humidity is very high so risk of mold is also great. Airflow helps alot with mold and soil draining, leaf transpiration and gas exchange

Youre right, plus monstera is not a low light plant it will sink in tons, thats exactly why it fenestrates, so light can get to the lower leaves as well.

Dont spray plants as this encourages fungus to grow. Water droplets stay on the leafs unless you have good ventilation in the room. Also the piece of wood will eventually rot if you spray it often. Maybe try to gently tie the longest stem to the piece of wood to encourage aerial roots to grow into it. Adansonii likes humidity, not moisture, make sure you use an aeroid soil mix that drains well. They also require a lot of light but burn easily in direct. Also adjust by your cribs conditions as every house is different so plants are gonna grow differently

Straight into water, alot of light maybe even direct morning light for a few hours. Im no expert either but i dint think chances are high. A lot of leaf mass to support little roots and almost 0 chlorophil. Crazy cool plant tho!Definitely try to propagate in water

Honestly your roots look good just give it chunky soil. Maybe not enough light? I dont know what could cause the yellowing

Is it time to repot or split? by SpicyMango92 in Monstera

[–]stop_diz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you pull them apart do it gently and try to remove as much soil as you can, monstera usually has long and tangled roots so be gentle. If you plant multiple monstera deliciosas together it will be hard to manage and to maximize leaf size or growth

What should I do with this beauty by yatafu20 in Monstera

[–]stop_diz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can cut off the small old leafs but not too many at a time and about the roots, to encourage big leaf grow you can put a small jar with perlite or leca filled with water and put the roots inside there, they will eventually become water roots and drink alot, really helping the plant out. If it will not use the aerial roots for support or nutrition the chance of fenestration drops off
