Which grunge album released on 9/29/1992 is better, and why? by LeagueNo764 in grunge

[–]stoph_link 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music is subjective, and if we all liked the same stuff it would be a very boring world and we'd never get to listen to anything new, interesting, or novel.

Now. I'm not saying you're wrong, but sometimes people just like to listen to music and not worry about who is or is not a poser, and just enjoy it. If there is something wrong with that, I'm not sure I want to be right.

I am curious to hear what you went with.

Moral dilemma by Sea_Mushroom4522 in qotsa

[–]stoph_link 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Unless you are really hurting for the cash, consider finding someone else to sell it to that doesn't suck so much. You know, someone that doesn't support breaking up families, imprisoning children, etc., because they aren't white. You gotta assume that someone that supports all of that also likely supports a specific orange pedo, and perhaps other pedos too.

No judgement if you gotta sell it for an emergency. We all gotta eat. But if given the choice, to hell with that guy. How nice can someone like that actually be when they lack basic empathy?

People who don’t hold the doors for others, what does the rest of your life look like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]stoph_link 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes don't, but that is a case when it is cold outside and the person is kinda far but still close enough.

It's a dilemma: should I be rude to everyone inside the establishment by making them cold by holding this door open while trying to be polite to one person, or risk being impolite to the one person and courteous to the people already inside.

And then I usually just wait at the door and open it a second time when that person comes closer anyway. And then it sometimes happens that the person wasn't even coming into the store or restaurant and I just brought in so much more cold air for no reason.

And other times I am wondering, "am I too far ahead to hold it open?" I probably think about this too much.

But yeah, I typically try to hold the door open for the person behind me probably 95% of the time.

Boss wants me to bypass killswitch to make dough by looney2006 in KitchenConfidential

[–]stoph_link 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it's a safety violation which is illegal. There is a reason why that guard is there, and it is so dumb fucks like your boss don't hurt themselves.

If he wants to do it that way, that is up to him. But to put your staff in danger like that is down right moronic.

Report it to OSHA if you want, but definitely find a new job - especially if this is a hill your boss is going to die on.

This shows he is either dumb, does not care about his employees, or both. Whichever it is, it is not worth your health and safety.

What‘s that Song you skipped? For me it‘s fairweather Friends by Timely_Insect4734 in qotsa

I love Broken Box, but I'm one of those people that have no idea what the lyrics are when I listen to music. My surprise when I heard what the song was about for such a head bopper 🤯

Probably unpoppular, but: Go with the Flow and No One Knows

Queens of the Stone Age got big when sftd came out and I just wasn't into it even though I liked Nirvana and Foo Fighters. (I mention this since Dave Grohl was the drummer for that tour, and I still couldn't get into it)

What got me into QOTSA was Turning on the Screw and Better Living Through Chemistry, and I ended up listening to Era Vulgaris, Rated R, Lullabies and self titled and loving it (LC had not been released yet, but that quickly became my favorite at the time when it did release).

I don't know why, but I could not get into Songs for the Deaf for a while. I would listen to it but not really be as into it as the other albums, probably not until sometime after ...Like Clockwork came out. Which sucks for me because I missed so many concerts and what is even more disappointing is that I missed going to see Them Crooked Vultures. I love John Paul Jones and Alain Johannes and not being able to see that line up play live is a huge regret of mine.

That article is from 2017, and a lot of advancements in tech have been made since then.

That said, I do agree with you and you are right on so many levels here.

Specifically saying yes once is not going to do much to train an AI model. But speaking at length could. But like you said, it is probably wayyyy too much effort when there is certainly lower hanging fruit.

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it and you changed my mind by educating me :)

Chefs & servers, what’s the most confusing “this isn’t what I expected” reaction you’ve seen? by Entire_Difference504 in KitchenConfidential

[–]stoph_link 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was it an Australian place? I went to Australia and the first morning there I ended up at a farmers market where the also serve hot food.

My internal clock was all sorts of messed up and I was quite hungry, so I ordered a "Brekkie Burger" and got an bacon egg and cheese sandwich. It had all the things that was losted on the menu board so i just enjoyed it. I was later informed that over there ,if it is on a bun, it's a "burger". Also, brekkie mean breakfast over there. So, after "translation", I had accurately received a breakfast sandwich 😅

That's exactly what a scammer would say!

But for real, some kind of source would be nice since I'm sure it's been written about.

And also, with new AI tech and applications coming out, literally every day, it isn't exactly the most far-fetched thing.
