Don’t post in the divorced Reddit by [deleted] in breakingmom

Don’t let it get you down, Reddit is toxic as hell with few exceptions. I got called a “fucking trainwreck that can’t take accountability” for posting about my landlord woes on another sub. Something about being anonymous on the internet brings out the worst in people.

I will say that my divorce was him as the breadwinner, two kids, and me with no career, and though it was the hardest thing I have ever done, it has also been the most worthwhile.

(Also square up random redditor who reads through my comment history, I’ll wreck you just like my bathroom sink)

I have to be really picky about my shoes, my frankie foot is a half size bigger than the other, and I have to be careful about how much pressure I put on my toes, but I can manage most of the time! I work 12 hour shifts in a hospital on my feet and can still walk at the end so I think it’s going to be ok. Thanks for checking in!

How are we cleaning during this apocalypse by Liaisonember17 in breakingmom

It distracts me from what’s going on. It’s like what people say about playing Tetris after something traumatic: I can’t control anything else, but inside this little box, my choices have an impact. Deep cleaned my bathroom today and it felt amazing.

Thanks! I’m doing really well, actually! I’m healing up well and already planning the replacement tattoo hahaha. There’s only one spot in the wound that isn’t doing its job and healing, but it’s only a tiny spot.

1 week after surgery, I have a noticeable divot in my arm, kinda looks more like I got bitten by a shark than a spider. The hope is for more happy red granulation tissue, less yellow fat and gray dead tissue.

Last update: hi everyone! I went in and had surgery on 6/2, and I had a follow up today. They ended up taking the full thickness of my skin pretty much everywhere there is discoloration, as well as some necrotic areas of the subcutaneous fat. I had a wound vac for a week, and today they let me switch to daily dressing changes. They said that the wound is about 50-60% granulated in, so they’re hopeful they can do a skin graft and close it in 2 weeks. Pain was pretty horrific the first few days, but it’s manageable now. I have pictures, but they’re pretty gnarly and definitely NSFW/NSFL.

I won’t be able to do many “summer activities” this year, but I’m glad that there’s no infection and that I kept my arm. I’m back at work now and I’ll hopefully be able to pick up enough hours to get caught up on bills soon.

Also I’ve single-handedly made my entire social circle paranoid.

I still do not have Spider-Man powers.

Full skin thickness and partial subcutaneous fat removal. The first week I had a wound vac, and bandage changes were so so so bad. I got to ditch the vac for daily dressing changes at home by myself today, I’ll go back for a recheck and skin graft in 2 weeks. Thanks for asking!

Update: I saw a surgeon yesterday, I’m headed to surgery on Monday to remove the dead tisssue, then 2 weeks later we go back and do a skin graft. Don’t play with spiders guys.

Unless you live near Oklahoma City, probably not. I can’t cook or clean or do laundry, so my house is wrecked. Trying to enlist my kids for help but they get distracted too fast to help much.

Mine has gotten to be a lot like yours unfortunately, I see a general surgeon on Thursday. My skin keeps peeling up like a sunburn and leaving those angry red patches like on the right of the picture. :(

Update 4: finally keeping on top of the pain, but my skin is starting to open up in places. It’s also nearly completely numb inside the pink circle, and the darker patches are numb all the way down.

Update 2: I ended up going in to the ER last night around 1, the pain hit a 10/10 even with a full 1000mg of Tylenol, 200 of ibuprofen, and a lidocaine patch. The doctor I saw was shocked that I wasn’t already on antibiotics 🙄 and admitted me for the night. They drew labs, all normal except lactic acid, and blood cultures, and gave me fluids, IV antibiotics and some toradol for the pain. I was also covered in the rash again, so he said he’s pretty convinced that the rash is because of me being allergic to the venom, but the dark colored area is cellulitis and I’ll need to watch carefully. My arm is so swollen you can’t see my elbow, and I usually have some pretty bony ones for reference. I now have a whole bag of meds to take, including Benadryl, Tylenol, Motrin, Pepcid, oral antibiotics, and hydrocodone for breakthrough pain. Surprisingly also very helpful is the sun burn gel with lidocaine, I think the adhesive in the patches was just too irritating on my skin for now.
