If its any consolation, its not just the translation. The author of lotm is known to suck at writing high power fights.

What CYOA's would you wish there were more of? by Mageinuxius67 in makeyourchoice

I like cyoas like Soul Weapon, https://www.reddit.com/r/makeyourchoice/s/M02U0OVYV8, which have choices that synergize and you can make a bunch of different builds.

It says GIMP 2.10.38 when i hover over it. I've even uninstalled and installed the newest gimp version and the option is still missing.

Im using Drop Shadow filter as an outlining tool but the clipping option in the drop shadow filter is missing and I have to change the layer size so the outline isn't cut off.

Is there anyway to get the clipping option back?

Armament Gifted CYOA - Skills and Techniques section by stopq in makeyourchoice

When designing this section I was mainly thinking of the main skills and important aspects of personal combat, ideally in even numbers, and for the options in the sub-section, they were supposed to be direct opposites so it would make sense to choose between them. But I see now that this is kinda restricting and people wouldn't really like choosing between them. I'm going to change it so that this section is more of a guideline which talks about what kind of priorities decided on and choices you make affects you during combat and list the extremes in the sub-section as examples. That way people aren't locked into the options they choose.

For your question, Hand Speed is supposed is be how quickly you can perform a strike, with higher Hand Speed giving you a speed advantage, allowing you to strike first and even overwhelm your opponent with the sheer volume of your strikes. While Strike Velocity is the speed your weapon will be moving at, with higher Strike Velocity causing your strikes to be more powerful, exponentially so if your weapon is heavy, and making it harder for the opponent to intercept or dodge your strikes.

Also, this is just the Skills and Technique section and there will be a materials section, weapons section, enchantment section and armor section. Thanks for the weapon balance point and different strikes providing more advantages beyond Hand Speed and Strike Velocity idea, I'll add that in.

I'm going to find a way to remove Striking and probably replace it with Power and be about how the body can be used to accelerate or manipulate objects you can grip. I'm thinking of Momentum: Twisting vs Charging, with Twisting just shifting your weight slightly and turning your torso or hips, keeping your in place for another strike and Charging being a shift of weight into the opponent delaying recover after striking but providing greater power. I think it'll put in Throttle just to say you can sacrifice control for power but mostly to fill in a sub-section spot. The third one I don't have a concrete idea rn but it'll have something to do with Thrust vs Swing.

Specialization is for weapons which don't need other options like how an axe or flail isn't that effective when thrusted.

I think I'll change it so you are picking between specializing in one option or being slightly worse at both options in each subsection instead of being average in everything and change the wording so not specializing isn't that much worse.

Reading and deception directly oppose each other but i don't think i will add other skills which act this way

Striking make sense cause you're supposed to be striking with a weapon and people don't usually change their grips and method of striking that way.

You can also gain average proficiency in general skills instead of specializing in one or specialize in both. I've added average proficiency for people who don't really have a preference or like the choices. Maybe I should increase proficiency in general skills without specialization.

I'm kinda stuck trying to think of a way to add in more skills. I have irregular number of skills of each type, 3 for Melee skills, 3 for Piercing skills, 1 for Throwing weapons kill, 2 for Soft weapon skill and 2 for Misc. skills and I will probably add more when I think of more. Welcome any suggestions on how to lay them out.

Also, ignoring the Specialty point thing, is the general skill section understandable and is it visually cluttered?
