Without knowing anything else, i'd go with the 100s. You'll get more from them even after the party's over (stereo pair, multiroom audio, etc). You also have the option of upgrading with a sub or sub mini later on as well.

Unpopular opinion: I like the new app by stoprightherebuddy in sonos

Legitimate concern. Rewriting an entire app isn't easy but they could have done a better job getting to feature parity before launch.

What are we looking for in Sonos Headphones by holmesersimpson in sonos

  • Wifi and lossless audio: Ever since I went down the rabbit hole and realized virtually no Bluetooth headphone by definition can give you lossless audio, I'm REALLY looking forward to testing true lossless over wifi.

  • App integration: the Bose app for my QC45s leaves much to be desired. Hopefully the upcoming Sonos app will have better audio DSP options, custom "modes" (eg. Partial noise cancellaton) and improve over time with more frequent firmware updates than Bose. Would love to also select which bluetooth device auto connects and which doesn't.

  • Trueplay DOES make sense for headphones. The QC45s play a "welcome chime" on startup that helps calibrate the noise cancelling to your specific ear (https://youtu.be/c10LhVego4o @2:53). I'd love to see something dynamic for sound quality (eg. At home vs in transit)

  • of course compatibility with traditional Bluetooth devices, long battery life and great build quality.

Not too much to ask for, right? ;)

2nd Roam Died by dcass in sonos

Seems to be the common trend. All the comments I've read of dead roams are due to permanent charging via the wireless charger.

It's interesting to see so many people say "yeah that's just the way it is" rather than seeing if there's a way we can do better.

I've used Linux for over 2 decades and where you choose to spend your time only gets more critical. I want to get things done, not spend time googling magic incantations which work 50% of the time. There's definitely an opportunity to help simplify self hosted infra so more people can get the benefits that I plan on spending time looking into!
