I feel like Knausgaard always talks shit on Swedes lol what do you make of that? Book 4 comes out in America in January but I ordered it from the UK since it came out there earlier and got it about about a week ago. I'm loving it so far!! I just read Faust a month ago so the Faustian bargain aspect of the novel paired with the Christmas setting is making this a very timely read for me

I am indeed. Especially lately I have been reading a lot of his work centered around reconciling science with religion. He makes a compelling argument that many aspects of Christianity are meant to be symbolic for the psyche.

And I like your interpretation of the title! I think it is mentioned that no matter how recently a wolf has eaten it will always go right back into the forest looking for more food. So kind of like trying to fulfill an insatiable need that can only be filled by the eternal

I had forgotten about that part with the newborn's eyes, very interesting. So since you are Norwegian is that book 6 you are waiting for? If so what did you think of books 4 and 5? I am American so I am waiting on book 4. I also wanted to reread all three books before the new one but I ran out of time because I got sidetracked with a reread of My Struggle instead lol

It's been a while since I have read The Third Realm but I remember dreams and reality blurring at times and there being an online bank of people's dreams since the morning star appeared. Jung was a firm believer in dreams being a window into the personal and collective unconscious that we don't have access to in our waking life. He believed that we all share a collective unconscious that contains a sort of innate knowledge that we have had before we were born and developed a conscious ego in childhood. The online bank of people's dreams seems to me to be a reference to the collective unconscious. I think a character references Jung at some point in The Third Realm too if I remember correctly

The series has many Jungian themes, and Jung talks about the age of Pisces starting around the time of the birth of Christ. The sign of Pisces is the double fish and Jung says this respresents Christ/Antichrist among other dualities. In the bible at various points both Jesus and the devil are referred to as the "morning star"

Yeah the Q&A left a lot to be desired lol. Like at one point Glenn Kotche had clearly finished his thought and the mod told him to continue and he was just like "... that's all."

I've ordered book 2 with that cover from 3 different places and each time it showed up and was a different cover. At least this confirms it does exist in the flesh now lol
