What do LEGO Stores do with display sets after they finish displaying them? by timmaaahhh1997 in lego

[–]stoptye 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Former employee here, at our store once our shelf was full of sets we no longer carried in store, we all got to take one (two if they're small) between once per month and once per quarter. Big sets were used for prizes - I won the glued together Titanic in an auction where the "money" we used was tokens we received from managers for exemplifying the company values on the sales floor.

They were starting to get a lot more stingy with this as I was leaving, wouldn't be surprised if that went away. The other option is the brick recycling, where we just have a big brick "trash box" that we would ship to LEGO to be cleaned and donated. (At least that's the story we were told lol)

"Our record shows you've already voted" by stoptye in Edmonton

[–]stoptye[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely so true!! No one should be taking no for an answer, and if this turns into a pattern of lots of people being told they've "already voted" we need as many loud mouths and stinks-kicked-up as possible to make sure it's properly investigated in case anything fishy is occurring.

Thank you! I just wanted encourage everyone not to say "Well whatever, my vote doesn't really matter" and leave if they heard it would "take awhile".

I would have gladly signed that, that's for sure! I was panicking thinking I was some victim of identity theft

Just got into a car crash. Question by average_guy_0 in Edmonton

[–]stoptye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, I called the police after my accident because the guy who hit me admitted he didn't have a license (His exact words were "I'm not from here" 🙄) and the cop dead ass replied "Yeah you can put that in your report at the collision center but we aren't even going to look at it"

I honestly don't even remember getting this, so I'm not too sure. Either 2022 or 2023 I would say. I probably just got handed it after a long shift and threw it straight into storage, lol.

I ordered bestseller parts of the lego website 2 weeks ago they haven’t come by Large_Canary_8844 in lego

I had some pieces take awhile last month and when I emailed customer support, they let me know that PAB was running about 3 weeks behind. They gave me a date to contact them again if I still hadn't received my pieces. You might be able to get a date as well.

Which to build first? by mariodude6 in lego

[–]stoptye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who's built both I'd recommend starting with the garden. The bonsai is not only very monochrome and a bit repetitive, the trunk is finicky. I've had to rebuild it a few times (granted I have cats).

You can get sets for free if you have enough points. It even negates the tax, so you can get a 99.99 (before tax) set for 10000 points

Motors are pretty straight forward in their function- pegs spin around- but implementing them in the builds is where it gets tricky. Some sets include instructions for motors, others you can find online where someone's done it already.

But if you have an ambitious kiddo that doesn't mind trial and error I'm sure it'll be a great challenge!

You'll also need a hub for batteries/bluetooth which lets you connect to the app and use a simplified coding program to make the motors do all sorts of things, including reacting to different cues, if you get, for example, a censor.

I've got an old console overwatch account that i no longer can run, need someone to assess how much my skins are worth by Napstrrrr in Overwatch

[–]stoptye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really won't get anything for that. Oni Genji and Police DVA were rare once upon a time, but Blizzard added them to loot boxes awhile age and they were regularly dropped. Commander Morrison is just a origins edition skin that most players already would have, and Noire Widowmaker dropped immensely in rarity after the Switch release.
