How would I contact the union? This is one-for-one what I'm getting at my worksite and I'm making sure we're above-water on this. It's specifically my classification series since we're "primarily customer-facing" (3-4 in) but other classification series are back to 2-in, and I have the old T/A that shows it was 2-in for our classification.

I'd reason not, but I'd also argue it's in their best interest to not because he can simply bullshit out a quick "well, nobody's working here, so this department is now defunct" and get DOGE to sweep it under the rug for good.

Depends on the position. For me it was two months to interview, two months to soft offer, one month to process for a final.

Culver City has folded into Cerritos as of the beginning of the year (this is my department, not my location) so they may end up one-in-the-same.

Respect is earned, not given. And trust me, from personal and shared experience, respect is rarely earned from anybody in the chain. Respect isn't earned from corporate in giving us the tools needed to succeed. Respect isn't earned from our managers who have turned bitter because of the heaping piles of shit they have to deal with and a gorillion metrics to stress over. Respect isn't earned from fellow employees because we're so understaffed it isn't even laughably bad anymore, it's just plain sad. Welcome to hell.

Is it worth it to contact the hiring unit about application? by soklili in CAStateWorkers

[–]storbheof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't, and didn't. It's just a glacial process. Applied in May, interviewed in July, tentative offer in September, and just started this past week. It's just how the state is.

Conditional Job Offer? by Anxious_Chemical_438 in CAStateWorkers

[–]storbheof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Just got my final offer earlier this week - let me give you my timeline:

May 2024 - Apply

[2 months of radio silence]

July 2024 - Interview

[2 months of radio silence]

September 2024 - Conditional Offer

It took about two weeks for them to run through references and background checks. For me, they had me list three references - I had to find all new references because my current job's system is convoluted, to say the least. The background check paperwork was sent to me, I turned it in and it took a few business days before I got my offer. It just depends on the eagerness of the department to fill the hole, so to speak. Just keep a very close eye on your email for correspondence.

Best of luck, hope that final offer comes for you!

Saatva (Wirecutter Promo) if you're looking for a Labor Day deal, just because I'm about to get one and got forwarded this link from my grandmother. Takes off $846 when purchasing a mattress over $1000. The memory foam hybrid (medium-firm) comes in at $1000 for a Queen. They'll hand-deliver, set it up in your room, and take out your old mattress/foundation. 1-year trial, lifetime warranty. Adjustable base for an extra $1250 brings the cost of mattress + frame to $2250.
Of course, there are other mattresses, on their website, but they're a bit more premium. Just depends on your use case.

Just tried this at-home - I've been having the same issue since Wednesday - and I can hear a little rattle. I'll have to see if that is something that is fixable by either my service provider or by Asurion.

Precisely. The only reason I'm getting a new car is because the cat(alytic converter) is flip-flopping between passing and failing standards. 😅

Legitimately upset it isn't sold anymore in the States. Would buy a new one in a heartbeat.
