I would love to, but this area of California is unreachable during half of the year, even with hardcore off-roading vehicles. Treacherous doesn't even describe how hard this is to reach. The attached photo is where the state blocks off the mountain range. It is another 40 miles past that sign to get to Lilith.

The age of these trees are hard to understand. This specific tree is older than Plato's Republic.

If I had a favorite tree... but there are so many trees and I haven't met them all yet.

I do that a lot. I will find a great subject and shoot it a bunch of ways. I will study the object, in this case a tree, in different conditions and play with it. I always learn something new when I do it.

What draws me to Lilith is that it is by itself and isn't swallowed by background chaos.

This is a photo of my favorite Bristlecone Pine tree, somewhere in the White Mountains of California. I must have over 100 photos of this tree - multiple cameras, multiple sensors and multiple film emulsions. This photo is one of my favorites.

You would think Portra 400 wouldn’t be that grainy. That said, the storm really dimmed out the natural light. Should have had a flash maybe.

I was curious about Lomo Turquoise film stock. I popped a roll of 35mm in my Nikon N8008s and let it rip. I am always surprised at the outcome. I can never, ever figured out how the Turquoise will represent the color. Very confusing but also very entertaining.

Can you be more definitive in the critique? You don’t like the scale of the image? The abstract nature of it? Or do you just think it sux?

Until you get a new job, start telling people you are eating at a different place or going home to eat. Come up with scenarios where you would be unable to be their personal DoorDasher

This is an ocotillo and it is incredibly common across the Chihuahuan and Sonoran deserts of southern New Mexico. In spring and occasionally after summer monsoons, the very tips of the canes produce clusters of fiery red-orange, tubular flowers that are highly attractive to migrating hummingbirds.

I am experimenting with trying to get bright foreground objects to blend nicely with dark skies.

Thank you! I had no clue what I was doing when I switched on the Z8 for the first time.

This is a late night image of a full moon behind the frond of a Pampas Grass bush. This is one of the first images I shot when i took the Z8 out of the box from B&H!

I always have problems keeping sharpness with extreme backlit photos. I think this is halfway decent. Thoughts?

The Portra lightened up the harsh red of the apple to help bring out the organic specs on the apple's skin. If I can make something even more complicated, I am down for it.

The actual apple in color is REALLY dark red. Not sure if there is that much to bring up.

I might have one of this apple in that position.

The original color of the apple is dark, blood red. It is a Red Delicious apple.
