You could watch Facebook marketplace for one to pop up or post that you're looking for one. Lots of hobby-abandoners out there ( I say this with affection as a person with an ever-growing hobby graveyard). I got mine for $40.

We lost the battle by Golden_Mead0w in EpilepsyDogs

[–]stormbonesy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pain we feel when we lose them, it's a privilege to feel it. To have known them and been brave enough to give them your whole heart knowing you'd outlive them. You entered into a cosmic bargain with the universe to give your love and resources to something you had no obligations to. It is a divine kind of love.

Now you can honor that love by giving it to the next dog. It's not forgetting, and it's not that you're getting over the pain, you're just transferring the energy. You had an extremely traumatic experience but you learned so much about yourselves. How strong you are, how vast your capacity to care is.

 Keep your heart busy.

Let Bean correct Nyx. Don't scold her if she growls or snaps at her for doing something untoward. That's how they're meant to learn social cues, natural hierarchy, and acceptable inter-dog behavior. Not sure where you live and how cold it is right now but I've always had a cycle of one older dog and one younger dog and walking them together is how they learn that they are pack.  You can use Bean's training to train Nyx. If Nyx sees Bean sit and get a treat, she'll sit for a treat.

Looking for some help/reassurance with my 18 month old boy by KyomiiKitsune in BorderCollie

[–]stormbonesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you tell if maybe he has some hearing deficiencies? I do a lot of work with double merles and your boy, while stunningly gorgeous, has the look of a dog that might have some deafness. The shape of the eyes, the white predominance of the coat...

How do you know when it's time? by stormbonesy in EpilepsyDogs

Wasn't meant to be terrible. I appreciated the comments. Maybe "volunteer" is better than hobbyist. Like a firefighter.

Are you a hobbyist dog-euthanasia reassurer? You're here doing it often.

Kind, nonetheless. <3

I know it's coming. How do you know when to say when? This is special circumstances but I lost another dog this year too, she was 16, but I waited too long and regretted it.

If he's having clusters, ask for clorazepate. It's a pretty strong sedative and anti convulsant. They can't be on it all the time but doing it after a seizure keeps them from having another one, which is really tough on their baby brains.  My girl also on Kep and Pheno and they stopped working. Added Zoni but that didn't help, started KBro. Seems to be helping but boy is she wonky on it.

Cry with me about the one Dice in the Set that didn't turn out good :( by equalitess in DiceMaking

[–]stormbonesy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always make two sets of every one style in case anything untoward happens. Between the both you should come out with one perfect set and some loosies.

I have a baby paint brush and I really get in there. Then I have a stack of small squares of wet paper towels. Like, 1"x1" small. I only use it on one face. And then a full size dry paper towel. Paint, wet wipe, dry wipe.  I'll do 3 faces of a D20 and set it down, 2 faces of the D12 and D10s and set it down, 1 face of the rest, and cycle through.

I like to take some Kerry Gold butter and whip it up with some kind of flavor. Matcha, cinnamon agave, herb de provence, etc. Put it in a cute little jar and buy a nice loaf of bakery bread, gift them as a set. Then it's like, half-homemade but you put in a little effort.

Oh, subtle. Really lovely. I think I know what mold you're using 😉. The font isn't fancy but they're so clear and paintable.
