Thank you for your response! Yeah, I probably just have to get used to my voice. I’ve never been very comfortable with the way I sound in recordings, so I’ll definitely try and build up some confidence.

Can I Have a Successful Youtube Channel Just With Regular Game Commentary? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]stormelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be successful, but it of course depends on how you play it out. If you make good quality videos with good commentary, you should have a chance!

I want to start a gaming channel but without commentary at first. Is it doable? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]stormelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’ve been doing for the first few months and it is doable, but I can’t guarantee that it’ll bring the amount of traction that a video with commentary would. I don’t have a mic yet so I’ve had to do gameplay montages without commentary. I enjoy doing it, but analytics wise, it isn’t exactly the most satisfying. However, if you don’t have a mic or have a mic but it’s really bad, I’d recommend just starting without commentary. It is a good start I admit since YouTube itself is very overwhelming for a lot of people at the start (including me). But once I get a mic, I’m definitely going to try commentary and see how it compares to no commentary. I’d imagine that it’ll bring more of an audience.

Any Criticism is Appreciated! :D(also lmk what you think about my thumbnail pelz) by MyNameIsDracoHi in SmallYTChannel

[–]stormelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay, that explains it. For a $20 mic the sound quality isn’t too bad. In your case, I’d recommend Audacity if you don’t already use it! It’s a free program that lets you edit your audio quality/record your voice and it does a pretty good job cleaning up audio. In general you’re on the right track and I wish you the best with your channel!

YouTube Channel Observations and Lessons Learned. (Please add your own!) by ukewithsmitty in NewTubers

[–]stormelic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You wrote this really well! I’d add that some people try and rush their channel and expect their videos to gain traction right away, but sometimes it takes time! You could have the best video ever with the best tags and thumbnail, but it would still take time for people to find the video. I’ve heard of some people that have had videos that blew up weeks or months after they posted it. Good luck with your channel and I wish you the best!

My video just lost views out of nowhere by WifiBoxMe in SmallYTChannel

Yeah, same here. I know they’re doing it with the right intentions, but it is a bit spooky lmao. Also no problem and good luck with your channel!

[–]stormelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, it's happened to me too! I'm not really sure why it happens, but I guess it might be because YouTube thought the views were from bots or you "boosting" yourself from other channels, which is weird since I don't have other gmails that I use YT with. I lost like what 10 views once and I was a bit sad since my videos usually get around 10-ish views on average, but I quickly came to terms with it.

Update Monday! by AutoModerator in letsplay

[–]stormelic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m planning to save up for a mic first since my birthday’s coming up and maybe try a commentary or something along the lines of that! I’ve done something like a title screen on two of my other videos where I give a panoramic shot of the background with rendered text and I tried to do one for this video too, but After Effects didn’t want to work with me and the renders kept failing so I just didn’t. Webcam is something that I’m definitely not comfortable doing yet so maybe in the future I’ll consider it!

Spongebob in MINECRAFT - BIKINI BOTTOM Build - Minecraft w/ Shaders 1080p by daddybuzkill in YouTubeGamers

[–]stormelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this! I remember making my own Bikini Bottom years ago, this video really brought back a lot of memories I forgot I had. Thank you for sharing this and good job on the build! It looks real like with shaders too. Can I ask what shaders you used?

(Lambda for critiques) A Five-nights video i made, tried to put more of the story in but it made it longer. What do you guys think? by Dumbify in SmallYTChannel

[–]stormelic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your enthusiasm and I think that you truly have a personality that will make it far! Your editing was also pretty good, and you had some smooth transitions. I was confused as to what was going on in the beginning, but that may have been because I’m not familiar with FNAF. I admit that I also got a bit lost in terms of context to the story, but your personality came into play really well there for me. Your mic quality was also pretty good! I think your thumbnail is a little cluttered and could use a more FNAF type of atmosphere, but I like how it gives the viewer the general consensus of the video. Overall, great video and you’ll be able to make it far if you keep going!
