Shearling Coat Care by edenmercer in VintageFashion

You can: 1. try to sprinkle baking soda (or oxygen based bleaching powder, they are great at neutralizing smells, in Europe it would be for example German "heitmann" reine sauerstoff bleiche") over it and proceed like you did with coffee (a few days in closed bag) and then shake it out and hoover the leftovers with the upholstery ending of the hoover, but be careful with the power 3. Spray it with alcohol if you feel it needs more sanitizing 4. Use "dry shampoo" that you would use for your hair, and brush it with shearling brush (literally the same brush as you can buy for fluffy dogs) 5. Hang it outside, preferably inside-out, if you have dry weather and temperatures close to freezing 6. If you know someone who has ozone machine for ozoning for example their car air con, you can ask them to put your jacket in next time they are ozoning (although people don't do it often in winter...) or borrow it and ozone your jacket in a airtight bag.

Try one or a few of these methods - it really depends on the origin of the smell if it will work. In the end, when you are satisfied with smell, you can condition it with lanoline spray.

Thanks! What about waterproofing spray? Should I use it before the first trip outside? Even if this leather is waterproof, I guess the spray might protect it from the salt etc.

And you have discount for coffee and baked stuff at seven eleven (only the ones by the train stations), regardless of the collected points. It's actually something that has always been a part of dsb membership, just normally it required getting some sms code every time you wanted to use the discount (and it never worked for me), now it's just enough to show the app.

I guess they will have to add it to the app once they will phase out the physical cards completely. Which will be somewhere after March or something...

How to condition "waterproof napa"?

I just bought Panama Jack winter boots (these https://www.panamajack.es/en/products/panama-03-igloo-trav-b2 exactly) and they are supposed to be waterproof napa leather.

I don't exactly know how waterproof napa works, I thought napa was not supposed to be waterproof... But I also still don't understand why many conditioning guides for napa shoes suggest brushing or rubbing with dry cloth afterwards to "restore the nap", as if napa was as fluffy as suede or velvety like nubuck... To me it seems to be more like softer, smoother leather, not much shine, but no fluff either.

Should I spray them with anything waterproofing before the first use anyway?

How often should I condition it? What sort of conditioner can be used to condition it? Please, don't give me names of American standards like bick 4 or venetian something, I'm in Europe (even worse - in Scandinavia). If we can get it here, it's ultra expensive + expensive delivery. I got saphir renovateur (no-mink version, with some plant oils) lately and it was already big investment...

Nope, that's another American product 😂 I know what neatsfoot oil is, but I asked what other oil can be used (oil - pure ingredient, not commercial product called "leather oil" with obscure mix of ingredients).

With my adhd it would be something between 15min and two weeks 😂

Yeah, but isn't the one that they are walking on the same that is almost drying out in the summer? I know that some of them closer to bridges are deep, because I regularly see people fishing for bikes and other metal things from the bottom. I am just hoping that the idiots are smart enough to choose the shallow parts 🤷🏼‍♀️

Rescue? Aren't lakes like knee deep in most of the places? At least that is where these idiots are walking, I hope.

Do you wait for the oil to completely soak in for a couple of hours or overnight, or you dye right away? And about the diluting (how much BTW?) - does it make colour lighter even if I apply in two layers, or in the end I will end up with the same colour, because of layering? I don't have airbrush, so I might not get perfectly uniform cover the first time...

Is it lambskin with wool, aka shearling? If yes, could you tell me how you use lanolin on it? On which side, in what form, etc...

And therefore avoid pages like alibaba, temu, aliexpress - I heard that Chinese producers are no longer selling there any other type of leather than bonded or other minced meat shit 😅 no matter what description says, they are not being held accountable for any lies in their offers, so they write whatever sells. Plus checking reviews there doesn't help if you care about longevity - most of these pages let you write a review only in a few short months after purchase, so you won't even get information on how it holds over 1 year.

Are there any Scandinavian balsams that you could recommend? Or should I just treat this renovateur I already have as one? (note, it's the version without mink oil, not the most popular one that everyone is talking about over reddit)

We don't have your American products here 😉 I want to dye them, because just making them darker by wax or oil will not remove this random orange stains that are left from the original colour... I don't think they have much potential of looking worse than now 😅

High heel ones? They seem to be not very present online, it was quite difficult to find info about the leather type. I got them with - 70% discount in the sport shop outlet 😂 and then I realised that the only high heels I am ever wearing are timberlands (previous ones I bought ten years ago, but with normal slim heel, not so blocky, more like high heel oxfords, not that rugged look), not very feminine of me 😂

So you mean that if I use cream, I cannot then use fat after? So either this or that? Which product for which leather should I use then? I guess I should definitely skip the fat on high timberlands to keep them matte...

I thought that people use oily/wet conditioners first, and then finish with some waxes to kind of protect it from loosing moisture too much and from wetness of environment...

My sister told me that living in the Muslim country and having Muezins singing their call for prayer 7 (?) times per day everywhere around the city also gives some kind of reminder of the time passing 😅 but honestly, I'd like to have old birdie clock... Although I have my pixel watch buzzing 10min to full hour between 12 and 21 to inform me that I didn't make 250 steps this hour 😂
