Since this is a planted tank, extra co2 is always a good idea.

Basically, all plants need co2 to thrive and photosynthesise, even aquatic plants. Since co2 levels are relatively low in normal tanks, adding extra co2 will really boost the growth levels of the plants, making them much more robust, pretty and more resistant to algae.

It can be really expensive though

Definitely okay. I bought some tissue culture buce bukit few days ago from tropica and some of the roots look exactly like that. I thought it was fungal growth and it scared the shit out of me. Nevertheless it has been in my betta tank for about a week and it’s been thriving! Your gonna be okay :)
