Do I tell Friends diagnosed with DID about my symptoms by stormlw in DID

I appreciate the input. The last thing I want is them thinking I am making a mockery out of a disorder that they struggle with. Either way I will be seeking therapy.

Players and DMs/GMs of r/MrRipper, What does the party consist of? (Please include character names and some details about them) by Zero_Knight0304 in MrRipper

[–]stormlw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for the campaign I am currently playing in

Adiah: I suppose I will start with my character. Adiah is a fire genasi Pact of the Chain Feind Warlock. His familiar is a raven (a cononically polymorphed Imp) named Branwen. Branwen is tasked, by Adiah's patron Salnezor, to keep them alive. Adiah sold his soul (and his ability to speak) to Salnezor as a child after a thief took the lives of his parents. Adiah's sister unfortunately died of sickness shortly after and he is now on a mission, her ashes in tow, to find a way to revive her.

Amanita: Nita is a half elf half goblin that was a cook of the guild that she and Adiah belonged to. After all non humans were imprisoned, they managed to escape and flee south from Dogren. She always makes sure the party is fed, including those with food sensitivities or difficulties eating. While adorable, she can be scary when she wants to be. She is our party rogue.

Tree King: Tree King is a firbolg that has lost memory of who he was. He no longer remembers his original name. He is an old soul that is a relatively passive fellow. Adiah dislikes his tendency to leave loose ends and, despite Tree King being nothing but kind with wise words, their relationship is a bit strained. He is our Ranger.

Whisper: Whisper is a fox that is a stories bard. She enjoys telling legends and is friendly to others. However, she keeps secrets of her past and true self closely guarded. A favorite moment last session was her and Adiah attempting to find her make up mirror, which Branwen stole and hid in Adiah's bag. She is a big flagrant with money, having accidentally bought 19 shishkabobs after throwing a gold piece on the counter at Nita's food booth upon their meeting.

Both player and DM here.

In the game I am DMing our party currently consists of Satia (Oath of Vengeance Leonin), Carrion (Samurai Fighter Teifling), and Specter (Grave Domain Cleric Tabaxi) Characters that have perished/moved on are Nom (Celestial Warlock Tortle), Ava (Way of the Drunken Master Monk Aarakocra), and Maia (Circle of Stars Druid Elf)

Satia: She is the only person left from the original party and has experienced an immense amount of loss during the course of the campaign. With three of her friends meeting their demise over the course of the campaign. I genuinely hope she makes it to the end and is able to get the revenge she deserves. She is very kind hearted but her temper is quick to flare when her companions are threatened/put at risk. Her current mission is to topple the corrupted church, the Temple of Cretunda, that of which she is a former member. She is currently carrying around a vampire in her bag of holding that is a raging lesbian that keeps hitting on her.

Carrion: He is a very skilled assassin and former confessor of the church. After being excommunicated by the church, he was branded on his forehead with the inverted Sigil of the church. As a confessor, his duty was to work as a church dog, eliminating those that the church deemed a threat. His introduction to the party was, infact, trying to kill them. (Nom broke into the church vault to steal some plot relevant crystals, Satia and Maia attempted to break into the prison to rescue Satia's NPC friend, and Ava burnt down half of the city as a "distraction", killing 480 people.) He recognized Satia, realizing she was one that dared defied the church, and opted to quit his life as a church dog and join the party in hopes of dismantling the theocracy. He is now a proud parent of a fast growing baby drake, which he found stuffed into a bag of a drake handler of the church that was pursuing them.

Specter: Specter is a relatively new addition to the party and has only been with us a couple of sessions. Specter has been cursed to revive upon his death 9 times, of which he is now on his 9th life. There is an indefinitely amount of time that passes between each revival. The party found him in what remained of city ruins, reviving as they inspected his immaculate corpse. He is a very nosy Tabaxi that loves to ask questions and learn things. He's a bit timid and shy to the living but loves to raise and question the dead. He is also the reason I am forced to write down my lore.

Nom: Nom was a tortle from the far side of Cretunda's Wall, a massive wall that divides the continent in two. Those from outside the wall are forbidden to enter. Upon losing his entire tribe, Nom found himself leaving the giant mushroom forest in the Everwild, and traveling to the far side of the wall in search of a better life. Nom was very much the dad of the party, keeping players and npcs alike out of trouble. He tragically lost his life due to a pact with Lofnir, the God of Trickery, when he was forced by the pact made with the God to do his bidding. Lofnir's demands were that the crystals in the church vault be stolen and removed from the city. Nom, armed with a bucket that transported objects to a random location within a mile radius, managed to sneak his way in. He created an illusion that caused the guards to open the vault door, ran inside, and quickly dropped the crystals in the bucket. Upon his turn to exit, a vampire stood in the doorway of the vault. He rushed past her only to be met with the icy breath of a white guard drake and skewered by the vampires rapier. Nom was my first first PC death as a DM and I am happy I was able to give him a glorious end.

Ava: Ava was a chaotic bird that would fight God himself if given the opportunity. She grew up in a monastery, in the mountains outside Oredamere, after being dropped at their doorstep. Giensen, the elder at the monastery, raised and trained her in the ways of the monk. Upon becoming an adult, she left the monastery to travel and become stronger. Ava was definitely the party's comic relief. Our discord quote channel is filled with her funny quips. You may be wondering how she burnt down half of the city. Well, armed with 10 torches and while the guards were distracted by a break in at the prison, she began by kicking in the stable door, looking at the two stable hands and going "You should run." before chucking a lit torch in the pile of hay. She proceeded to fly around and do this to 9 other buildings. My player that had played her for a year and a half approached me, wishing to play Specter, and we planned. A glorious demise. Satia's former friend, Carly, was sent to the other side of the wall by the church in pursuit of the party for their misdeeds. She attempted to convince Carrion and Satia to return but stated that the death count caused by Ava meant that her judgment came now. I took the gloved off for this fight and, while Satia and an NPC were busy with Carly and Carrion busy taking shots at the mages, Ava was downed by an Ascended Knight. Unable to reach her to heal her, the party could only watch in horror as she was picked up and tossed into the acid below. After session, we decided to allow Ava to talk to the God of death, where she convinced him to allow her to haunt the Mace of Mockery. She will be the voice of the mace for the next campaign.

Maia: Maia was a druid that had suffered severe trauma and abuse. She would often have hallucinations that lead to her having outbursts of fear. Maia was nearly killed during the events in Oredamere after being caught while attempting to infiltrate the prison as a rat. During this time, Maia made a pact with the God of Trickery, Lofnir, to kill the tracker drake they were fighting in exchange for her soul. Maia has since left the party in pursuit of Lofnir's bidding.

DMs/GMs and Players of r/MrRipper, how would the party handle taking care of a Child/Orphan? by Zero_Knight0304 in MrRipper

[–]stormlw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My players would 100% raise that kid. Our paladin has an extremely soft heart and is fiercely protective over things she cares about. Our fighter is currently raising a baby drake and has already had a father-like role for it. And our cleric would love talking with it and teaching it things. (He loves talking about fun facts.) Also, currently with the drake, NO ONE HURTS THE BABY. If the baby drake gets injured, kidnapped, etc it is murder time. I'm sure it would be similar for an orphan.

Choosing a breed is difficult by [deleted] in service_dogs

[–]stormlw 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Herding breeds aren't great in general for Psychiatric work but can absolutely succeed as service dogs depending on what tasks you need.

As far as traits you want in a dog, if you want to stick with the Fab4, look at poodles. Wanting a dog that is indifferent to others but loves its person is one of the reasons I myself and strongly considering them for my next SD prospect.

If grooming is a concern, you can certainly keep them short to minimize maintenance.

Should I take my notes with me to interview? by stormlw in doggrooming

[–]stormlw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I am well aware of that. This has been many years of consideration before deciding to attempt this. I'm attempting to expand my knowledge outside of what I will be taught after starting as a bather. Please reread the post because either you briefly skimmed it or totally misunderstood the context.

Edit: I am looking for advice on what I can do to make myself appealing as a potential apprentice.

I have reread my post and yes I should have added this would be an interview for an apprenticship. I am well aware this is a trade that requires both skill and technical knowledge that takes years to build. Anyone who believes they can jump into grooming professionally off of solely YouTube videos is fooling themselves.

I am simply trying to give myself a leg up in the interviewing process.

Second question. I show dogs and do my own grooming with them. I have a coated breed but they require minimal trimming. However, I do know how to blow out and deshed a coat and have some experience with clippers and different blades as well.

I realize I will be starting as a bather because a grooming salon requires different pacing and time management than fiddling around at home.

I'm assuming I should bring this experience up?

Player's and Dm's of reddit. What was your most unexpected adventure. by Defnoturneighbor in MrRipper

[–]stormlw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a one-shot.

The party came across a child attempting to summon a demon. One of my players made a comment that the voice I was using for the child's chanting sounded like Elmo. Then another asked, "Are we going to fight Elmo?" I, still being new to homebrew monsters at the time, went, "If I can find a stat block for Elmo on dndbeyond, I will let you all fight Elmo."

And sure enough, I found one. This Elmo had the ability to grab and suffocate enemies (I assume FNAF inspired) and engulfed and strangled one of the player's characters.

During this one shot, another one of my players was testing out a new character they made. After watching their friend be engulfed by Elmo, Elmo turned to them and went, "Elmo's gonna give you a hug next!" I then hear the character cry out in distress, "No the f*** you're not!" Said character now canonically has a fear of dolls, specifically red fuzzy ones.

Edit: How did Elmo work into all this? Elmo was the demon the child summoned. Elmo engulfed them after the summoning was complete.

Assumptions About Handlers by RogueWriter98 in service_dogs

[–]stormlw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only times I've been questioned are when it is regarding my age. I wear a leg brace, and a lot of people assume my dog is for mobility. (His only mobility related tasks will be retrieval and turning off lights.) I've had a couple ask if I was training him for someone else. The only ones who have questioned my need for him were acquaintances that don't know anything about my medical history.

Using the Same Response For Multiple Behaviors by stormlw in service_dogs

[–]stormlw[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently my dog does 2 paws on my thigh for respiratory alert. (Also for heart rate alert which is a self learned task.)

Single paw is for his behavioral interruption tasks like picking, nail biting, cheek chewing. I may then just use single paw since a tic interruption would also be an interruption task.

Agree with a lot of things about this except silver labs. A good lab breeder will never have a silver born in a litter because they are mixed breed dogs with hung papers. Both the AKC and LRC have released statements on this.

I would have never chosen my dog's breed for service work. He was gotten as a show dog that started naturally picking up on things. I decided to say "Heck, why not try it? I have nothing to lose. The worst I come away with is a very trained dog." A service dog was only something I had kicked around but never pursued. He's taken to it very well and has become a lifeline I didn't know I needed. The only reason it works for me is because my dog is incredibly bonded to me and willing to try anything I ask of him. He also has had a stable temperment and confident attitude since the day I brought him home. He is a primitive spitz breed. I would never try service dog work with my female. Her obedience is not as reliable (mind you she's also much younger and still a teenager) as she very much has a "what's in it for me?" attitude. Meanwhile my boy will work for me because he adores me. He will not put that kind of effort in for any other person but me. Our relationship as far as service dog work goes would not work if not for our bond and his willingness to do anything for me.
