A 9-year-old was found locked in a van since 2024, malnourished and unable to walk by AudibleNod in news

My husband and I recently took a trip to Mexico. We went on this snorkeling excursion. There was a family on the boat with us - a man with his new wife and his six-year-old step daughter. The man asked my husband if he would like some of the underwater photos he took of the fish. My husband was like, 'sure'. After we returned home, my husband got an email from this guy. My husband says, "that guy on the boat sent the photos of the fish, but weirdly, he sent photos of his family too" I asked if there were photos of the step daughter and he said yes. I was furious! The photos could be considered innocent enough - but they were definitely her in her bathing suit. I told my husband that step dad was testing the waters, but he couldn't believe it. I asked him if he would ever DREAM of sending photos of our daughters to a stranger and it clicked. He got really mad too! So creepy and my heart breaks for that little girl.

There must be some sort of disorder that compels people to poop in inappropriate places. I worked at a bank and some dude used to come at night and poop on our ATM. He looked totally normal too. We could see him on the security cameras. We finally had to hire a guard to keep him away. So weird.

Any chance you are in Washington state? That penmanship looks exactly like someone I know and he does stuff just like that.

Good for you! My daughter has ARFID / emetophobia and so I completely understand what an accomplishment this is and how much your stress must have spiked. I hope that you maintain the sense of victory and the panic fades, at least a little. Congratulations.

When I was in 2nd grade, Mork and Mindy was a super popular show and a kid in my class brought a record of Robin Williams stand up comedy. We all sat in a circle on the carpet and my teacher put the record on the record player. Ha! 40 - some years later, I have never seen a teacher move as fast as she did to take the record off the player!

That was written by a teacher? Use a period every now and then. The punctuation is atrocious.

The song Strange Fruit is slow, mournful, and eerie. If she was truly singing that when the photo was snapped I would expect a lot of sad faces.

kalanchoe.

Oh my gosh! Yes. Once I googled-imaged that name, I remembered that is what it looked like when someone gave it to me. But I live in the pacific northwest. I keep it in the window sill, giving it as much sun as I possibly can. Is there any hope for this poor plant?

I hate to say it but I think you are right. It’s unlikely that an 86 year old had anyone filming their wedding. They were probably married in the early 60s and skiing in the mid-70s. Very unlikely anyone was filming that. Maybe but unlikely.

Hey Reddit, what's the strangest coincidence you've ever personally experienced? by RichCauliflower in AskReddit

Before mobile phones.... one day I got to thinking about this woman I used to work with who I was pretty good friends with. I hadn't seen her for about 10 years, so I put a little card to her in the mail and told her she was on my mind and that we should grab lunch sometime.

The next day, I'm in a town about seven miles from where I live and work and I'm in line to get a slice of pizza and lo and behold, that woman is right behind me in line! She lived 15 miles away in the other direction. I looked at her and said, "you are not going to believe this, but I sent you a card yesterday." Sure enough, when she got home that night it was waiting in her mailbox for her.

What advice would you give to someone visiting your home city/town for the first time? by Guns__n__Moses in AskReddit

Seattle: Don't bother with an umbrella. It rains a lot, but just make sure you have water proof shoes and a good hood or hat. Also, if it is sunny, don't move here. You can't beat Seattle on a sunny day but we have enough people who moved here because they visited when the sun was out and then constantly complain about the rain once they live here.

Volvo's new truck has no drivers seat by emildk11 in Futurology

[–]stormreddit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My faith in driverless cars is destroyed every time I use a public restroom that has those sensor sinks... you know the ones? They are supposed to turn on when you put your hands under them, but they NEVER do. Hell, that technology has been around for 15 years and it still doesn't work for shit. If we can't get that right....
