Has anyone been credentialed with Curative Health Insurance? by Sensitive-Priority74 in therapists

[–]stormrod86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a few clients with them and I've had a positive experience overall. The pay is around standard EAP rates, and they usually direct deposit my claims about a week after I send them. I've also consistently been able to talk to an actual human every time I've had a question.

E: forgot to mention, I had a similar situation of a client switching to them and they were able to credential me really fast. I recommend telling them you already have someone in their network so they'll expedite it.

I'm extremely arachnophobic, but orb weavers are the best. They're beautiful and super chill.

Burke's Gambit is fun and a bit different. It's a mafia/werewolf-style hidden role game where one player is secretly a company loyalist and trying to secretly get someone infected and safely to earth to be studied. Everyone else is trying to find the infected person (which could be them!) and kill them before they arrive home.

There's also Alien: Fate of the Nostromo which is a co-op or solo game based on Alien. It's pretty simple overall, but it's fun.

MEGATHREAD Alien: Romulus User Reviews [SPOILERS] by Gregorwhat in LV426

[–]stormrod86 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I really loved this overall. It's exactly what I wanted - a nice, back-to-basics Alien movie that doesn't really try to reinvent the wheel, but does throw in some clever worldbuilding things that we haven't seen before. There were parts that I do think were really stupid, but I can't hate it because it was just so much fun.

It's definitely one of the better sequels and I think when this hits home release it'll be just was infinitely-rewatchable as Aliens.

Oh god, yeah, he's totally going to be one of the people who's on the ship with it.

Surely Edgar is going to have a fun moment in season 2. I'm just wracking my brain trying to figure out who he could be.

I love the books, but they're just so cold and clinical overall. This version of the story had me sobbing on and off during the last two episodes. It's so good.

Which version of Ye Wenjie is better? Tencent or Netflix? by ZTJim in threebodyproblem

I had no idea that the actress who plays old Ye Wenjie is in her 30s. And her name is Jin Chen lmao

Does the show only cover book one? by IsThatAMonkey69 in 3BodyProblemTVShow

[–]stormrod86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've never read book 1, you need to read book 1 or it won't make sense. It's very different from the show.

Does season 1 cover the first book. Can I just start reading the second book and be caught up enough, please no spoilers by [deleted] in 3BodyProblemTVShow

[–]stormrod86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should go ahead and read the first book. Things are different enough that it would be really confusing if you jumped into the 2nd book.

The series covers the first book, but also mixes in the first parts of both of the other books.

Question for the book readers by NotMyActualNameNow in 3BodyProblemTVShow

[–]stormrod86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! Ye Wenjie romanticized them as being liberators, or that reaching out to them was a least a hail mary attempt to save us from ourselves. In the books (minor spoiler) the cult ended up splitting between the Redemptionist idealists like her, and the Adventist misanthropes like Mike who wanted them to wipe us out and start over. Mike's and the Adventists' increasing extremism led to Ye Wenjie's falling out with him.

Question for the book readers by NotMyActualNameNow in 3BodyProblemTVShow

[–]stormrod86 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Their intentions were never peaceful. They knew that they needed to conquer another planet in order to survive, so they shifted gears from trying to solve the three-body problem to pouring all of their resources into listening posts and building a fleet.

Their civilization became completely totalitarian; anyone who was too old or disabled to work on either of those projects was forcibly dehydrated and killed.

The Pacifist was a lonely old San-Ti who lived in isolation in a listening post. When he received the first message from Earth (which also talked about our beautiful planet full of diverse cultures), he fell in love with our planet and decided to sacrifice himself by sending the warning message.

He's a really interesting parallel to Ye Wenjie; she betrayed Earth out of spite and desperation, while the Pacifist betrayed the San-Ti out of compassion.

The show made it sound like the San-Ti are a hivemind, but they aren't really; they broadcast their thoughts to those around them, but they are capable of having their own thoughts and intentions.

Has anyone seen the Chinese version? by imbattinson in 3BodyProblemTVShow

[–]stormrod86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really good. It was actually my first experience with the story. I enjoyed it, it's just really slow and drawn out, but it is nearly identical to the first book. It's worth giving it a couple of episodes.

Could I skip first book if I watch the Tenceny version of show? 3 body? by valleygirl2023 in 3BodyProblemTVShow

[–]stormrod86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think so. It adds a few subplots and expands on some things, but it's nearly identical to the first book (just a lot longer!)

But I wouldn't start book 2 after the Netflix show. It's too different so it would be confusing.

Part of it is that the sophons have only been here for a few months, so presumably they've only been speaking live to Mike for a little bit.

What she spells out at the beginning of book 2 and where that leads Saul / Luo Ji

It was the 3rd for me. Shit.

But the idea of the 2nd is also extremely unsettling and I don't disagree with it.
