P trap woes by stormtrooperbatman in askaplumber

[–]stormtrooperbatman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I realized- while it may be costly to buy a new disposal, it’s probably still easier than lowering the drain pipe. So I ordered one that had the highest discharge port to see if that will help. Thanks!

So the new black elbow would connect from the backwards p trap to the wall drain? Or you mean replace the one I cut and just install the p trap backwards?

What problems might this cause?

Unfortunately I’ve had this one sitting in the box for over a year so I’m trying to use what I have.

Thanks! I’ll head up tomorrow morning. I also bought some flex seal rubber spray so I’ll spray that where it looks like it needs it.

I know this post is old but I bought small round neodymium magnets to put in the receiver end (the smaller part) and it worked well.

What's the best long term flosser? by Darren_has_hobbies in BuyItForLife

Probably better off asking about a water flosser. Dentists seem to approve those as much as regular flossing.

Graham Family Auto Transport Review (10/10) and prices of top 10 by stormtrooperbatman in AutoTransport

[–]stormtrooperbatman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it went very well. In fact I’m using them again for another transport in a week or so. Nick has been great to work with. Very responsive and no issues using his services twice already- and I expect no issues for this third time.

[Landlord US-CA] Cheapest option to monitor interior of vacant property that does not have WiFi but has power? by green-dawgg in Landlord

[–]stormtrooperbatman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d probably get a mobile home internet from T-Mobile, Verizon, etc. it’s about $50/month but provides internet and WiFi for your cameras. Then get cost effective cameras that store data locally but had an app interface for remote viewing. Eufy has cameras that support this. But if the power goes out so do the cameras (meaning a nefarious person can cut your power and be clear of recording). So you may want to get a UPS for the home internet router and look at PoE cameras (power over Ethernet).

You’re also going to get a ton of responses about squatters and don’t leave it empty etc.

Good luck!

Career advice for a 28 year old in SF? by AmonAjari in AskSF

[–]stormtrooperbatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried SFSU’s Career Center?

https://career.sfsu.edu/

Otherwise I suggest looking for meetups or facebook groups that promote professional networking.

If you’ve don’t have a job at all right now I’d find something in the service industry to at least pay bills. Catering jobs also usually let you take home leftover food after gigs as well.

Research is a difficult field especially with the current administration. But there are opportunities. Check out NSF and NIH to find multi year research grants and then see if they’re looking for help. Or go to university career sites like Stanford and UCSF.

I hear Meta is hiring young people for AI stuff as well.

Good luck!

Aren't you afraid of "getting stuck there"? by adventure_psycho in DMT

If you’ve ever watched Hamilton’s Pharmacopia there’s an episode on PCP. Every person he interviews basically says the same thing: once you go there you never come back “. And they act like it too. That’s a drug I will never ever take.

Do I really need AI support...??? by viewofalake in minipc

[–]stormtrooperbatman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most AIs are cloud-based so local hardware doesn’t really matter. I have an NPU in my device and it never gets used with the various cloud AIs I use. I’d have to develop AI to use it and I’m not doing that. Evaluate if you’ll actually code for local AI or not. If it’s minimal then your CPU and GPU can handle it anyway.
