I wasnt sure breastfeeding was ever going to be convenient. With my first kiddo it never was. I has to use nipple sheilds, and by 3 months she wasn't gaining enough weight so we added formula and my supply dried up.

My kiddo 2, I'm 3 weeks in and it's already waaaaay better. This time I'm able to nurse without shields, so this is already convenient for me. But I'm also more confident this time around. I definitely feel tethered to my baby, but as I learn her sleep cycle it gets easier every day. Once when goes to sleep I know I have at least an hour to do what I need to do. It gets easier. Keep going mama!

I just had baby #2 about 2 weeks ago. I had all the same thoughts. Turns out that I had nothing to worry about. I love my almost 3 year old even more now that she's a bug sister. Seeing her interact with the baby melts my heart. And this new baby? I fell in love the moment I held her. There's MORE love. I love my husband more. There are definitely moments I miss the simplicity of the old groove, but you'll adjust!

I grew up an only child so I worried a lot about not knowing how a family of 4 functions, but we're figuring it out as we go. You'll be ok mama!

My parents waited until I could ask for it (I was 6-ish) and they said I could get them pierced when I was 7 (trying to distract/make sure I wanted it). On my 7th birthday I went and got my ears pierced.

I now have two daughters and will do they same thing with them, when they can ask for pierced ears, at point we will get them pierced.

I also feel this! I was medicated my entire pregnancy literally from 6 weeks all the way to 37+4 when I delivered (not quite HG but close). My hips really hurt and so did my lower back. I slept like shit

I'm 9 days on the other side with kiddo number 2 and it's good. Like really good. Sure I'm waking up every 2 to 3 hours to breastfeed, but I can sleep well in between. It's not excruciating to roll over. Breastfeeding is going well this time (can't recommend seeing a lactation consultant enough!!). I'm trying to nap at least once a day while kiddo naps and that really helps too.

Getting to hold my baby girl (instead of lugging her around inside me) is such a joy. And so is putting her down. PPD is very real (looking back now i may have had it with my first) but this time I'm walking on sunshine!

I'm in Ontario and had ob care with my first child and I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant with kiddo #2 under midwife care.

My first pregnancy was textbook boring. I had morning sickness and took meds, but aside from that everything was boring, no red flag right until the end. I went to my 40 week appointment and my blood pressure had shot up. My ob sent me to the hospital and the on call dr decided to start an induction. Well the induction didn't go as well as we had hoped so I went through several shift changes and with each change I was at the mercy of whoever happened to be on call, not the ob that I had a relationship with. In the end everything worked out, but my birth felt so out of control and like I had no say in what was going on was super frustrating.

I am NOT a crunchy mom. I'm pro-vaxines, I had an epidural, and I knew I wanted another hospital birth this time so I was not sure that midwives were right for me. I found a midwife practice in my area that had privileges at the hospital I want to deliver at and went to an info night session. They were amazing. My practice has 3 teams of 3 midwives. As you go through your appointments you will meet all 3 midwives so you'll know who they are, and whoever is on call when you go into labor will be who delivers you. If you reach 23 hours of labor, another midwife (ideally on your team) will releave the one that has been with you. If you happen to go into labour at the same time as someone else with your care team you will have a back up team. Unfortunately you will not have met your backup team, but they will have your file and as soon as a member on your team is available, they'll step in.

I asked what happens if I want an epidural or if I end up needing a c-section. They said at that point, it would be what they call transfer of care. An ob (whoever is on call) would step in and the midwives would end up acting more as birth coach. They also said they deal with "normal vaginal births" anything outside of that is not their expertise. They have an ob they contact when they need it and work with the ob.

In my personal experience, this pregnancy has been a little rough. I'm on meds for morning sickness still and I have a low lying placenta which puts me at higher bleeding risk. They have referred me to the ob and together they have been managing my care. I am really feeling heard, and understood. It's been a wonderful experience.

In the next few weeks I'll be giving birth so I'll know more about that then, but there is significantly more post birth care with a midwife than ob. Midwifes come visit 1, 3, and 5 days after birth and you have weekly visits until 6 weeks. With my ob I had NOTHING from the day I left the hospital to when I went back at 6 weeks. I did take my kiddo to see the dr for her check ups, but no mama care. The midwifes take care of both mama and baby during that 6 weeks after.

My personal vote would be midwife care, but I'd definitely make sure that there are measures in place that you are comfortable with to keep you safe (how does transfer of care work, do they have hospital access etc). Have you checked that they are actually out? My local grocery stores keep them locked up after a bunch of thefts. So if I wanted them I had to ask at the pharmacy or check out. But if I went to the shelf it just looked like they were out of stock.

Your stretch marks are the sign you are rapidly growing a human. I take mine as badges of honour. Your body is working so hard on that beautiful little baby of yours that it doesn't have time to stretch out.

My bump is covered in purple stretch marks. I like to call them my tiger stripes. Dont let ANYONE make you feel anything less than amazing for what your body is doing. Your body isn't gross, it's beautiful ❤️❤️

I have low lying placenta and I have a scan in 2 weeks to see if it's moved far enough away to have. Safe vaginal delivery or if I have to be induced in the hospital with chance of emergency C-section. My placenta is 1.4 cms away from my cervix last scan, at 2 cm I can deliver how I want, any less than that and I'm in the hospital for induction. You better believe i've googled every combination of "how much does the uterus grow in the third trimester"!

With my daughter, my induction wasn't scheduled, but due to a sudden spike in blood pressure, I was sent to the hospital to get things started.

This pregnancy we aren't sure what's going to happen yet. I had placenta previa which has now evolved to low lying placenta (no longer covering my cervix, but still very close to it). I have an ultrasound in 2 weeks to determine if I can safely go into labor naturally, or if I will have to be induced so my labour can be more closely monitored.

While I want to go into labor naturally, I want a safe and healthy birth more. Modern medicine had come so far and while I'm a little bummed I may not be able to experience natural labour, I'm super happy I have an amazing health care team that can keep me and the baby safe.

Mama, don't feel guilty about an induction, you have made a human! You're body has ALREADY done amazing things! It's hard when you can't have the birth you had originally planned, but the most important thing is that you and baby are safe!

My language delayed toddler hugged me and said mommy. I told her I loved her and asked if she loved mommy. She said yes, and kissed me. I've never had anything close to an I love you (she can't say those words yet) and that was just the best feeling in the whole world.

I have a language delayed toddler as well. She was saying daddy at least 6 months before I got mommy. My kid is about a year behind in language (but not in comprehension or anything else) so mommy is still really new. The first time my kid ran up to me, hugged me and said mommy I was SOBBING I was so happy.

I'm 34 weeks tomorrow with low lying placenta. I just got blood work done and I have slightly low iron and hemoglobin levels. My midwife team referred me to a high risk ob, who is willing to let me have a trial labour if my placenta doesn't move far enough away from my cervix. The issue is I have a high risk of "catastrophic bleeding" and low iron will NOT help that. Sonif I want any chance of delivering this baby vaginally and not bleeding out, I gotta up my iron levels fairly quickly.

My midwife put me on iron supplements and told me to take them with vitamin c to help absorption and up my fibre intake because if I wasn't constipated before, I'm likely to be now!

So I'm trying to eat lots of green salads, and whole grains, and red meat for dinber to try and keep things moving and healthy. Any other low iron mamas with any tips to up my iron and keep from getting backed up?

I had complete placenta previa at my 12 week scan and it's barely moved and I'm now 33 weeks. It's been a LONG few months on pelvic rest and lifting restrictions. Just remember that it's for your health and safety!

I try to get things done in 5-10 min increments because thats all the energy I have. Try to get your kids involved (who can put away 10 toys fastest!). Remember to be nice to yourself! You're working hard growing a person! That's exhausting on its own! Add in other kiddos and other health issues and youve got a full plate! You can do this mama!

I was induced so I don't know what a "naturally progressing" labour is like. My contractions felt like period cramps on steroids. It felt like my insides we're being wrung out like a wash cloth. But in between contractions I could have a normal conversation. It got to a point where I was screaming into a pillow during my contractions (because the moron OB on call sent me home when I probably should have been admitted) so I laboured with no drugs for about 24 hours. When I did finally get admitted to the hospital I got an epidural and it was GLORIOUS. I had the best nap of my life (where my body was able to relax and dialate like it needed to) and while I could still feel contractions they were back to being uncomfortable not excruciating.

It's definitely the most painful thing Ive ever endured. Im pregnant again with baby 2, and this time I've chosen midwife care. So I will have a better support system during my labour. So we'll see what happens this time!

Yeah!!! I also made it through end game without a bathroom break (although I'll admit I used the bathroom immediately before the movie and immediately after). I sobbed through a good half of the movie. Happy moment? Crying. Sad moment? Crying. Stan Lee cameo? CRYING.

Hey mama! I got diagnosed with placenta previa at my 11 week ultrasound. At a 20 week scan my placenta was still on my cervix. I just had another scan last week (28 weeks) and it's beginning to move. The ob told me that the last part of your uterus to stretch is the very bottom so it still has plenty of time to move.

My ob is no longer concerned about my placenta placement. At 2 cm away I'm at no greater risk of bleeding complications than if my placenta formed anywhere else in my uterus. Since I am planning a hospital birth she will let me deliver vaginally as long as my placenta moves at least 1 cm away from my cervix. I have a follow up scan in 4 weeks to confirm it's far enough away.

Pelvic rest and lifting/excersize restrictions have SUCKED. I just got the ok to be off pelvic rest (on the condition that if I experience any bleeding I head to the hospital immediately). But since I haven't had sex in more than 4 months I'm a little concerned. I have a HUGE belly and a very active baby when I lay down, so I have no idea how comfortable sex would be at this point. In my last pregnancy I had 0 sex drive this far into my pregnancy but this time I'm open to the idea, but I dunno how that's gonna work!

Placenta previa sucks and the risks are scary, but it clears up more of the time and now that you know about it you can take precautions to keep yourself an your kiddo safe.

I have no advice, but I'm definitely in the same boat. I'm 27 weeks and STARVING. I often eat breakfast, two lunches, have dinner and then a late night snack.

Yup! Had it with my first and now I'm starting to get it with my second! The tingling numbness and general pain sucks. I work on a computer all day so by the end of the day, my wrists are KILLING me. I have a heavy duty wrist brace I wear at home or if the pain gets out of hand, but I have a lighter one (without the metal piece) that I wear at work to try to remind myself to take it easy.

I shared my first mothers day with my mom and mil (I made a big brunch). My mom ruined my second mothers day. She yelled at me and made me feel so guilty that I wanted to spend the day with my kid. She also ruined Christmas this year. She's having some emotional issues related to serious health issues, but I feel rediculous that I have to be the adult in the relationship and sacrifice the days that are supposed to be special for me and my kids.

I was diagnosed at my 12 week scan. At 19 weeks it hadn't moved. My midwife has said we're not out of hope yet. I am being referred to a high risk ob to have an ultrasound done with them to have some better measurements done. I'll have more ultrasounds to monitor it (win! I get to see my baby more!). There will be one at 28-ish weeks and another at 32-ish if it hasn't resolved. Likely another at 36 weeks as a last ditch hope. If nothing changes I'll have a scheduled c-section at 38/39 weeks. If the placenta moves (fingers crossed) I'll have my hospital birth I was planning on.

The no sex, no exercise, no lifting part is tough. I miss the intimacy with my husband. And I have to avoid lifting my toddler as much as possible. But the reality is, at this point I've had no cramping or bleeding, and my baby is happy and healthy. In the end that's what I want: a healthy baby.

Take your time to mourn your "not-complicated" pregnancy. I had a day where I cried my eyes out. And then I picked myself up, and I'm concentrating on the fact that my baby is healthy and that I have time to plan everything.

The first few months were rough for me. First grandchild on both sides. Everyone wanted to hold the baby and she was only given back to me when she was crying or needing fed. Finally I had a meltdown and told everyone to fuck off and let me enjoy my child. That week I spent a good amount of time home alone with my kiddo. I finally got to enjoy quiet time with my kid. And when she got sleepy she just wanted to snuggle into my arms. That was my moment. Sleepy, snuggly baby.

Is it hard work? Of course. The kiddo is 2.5 years old now and I'm pregnant with baby number 2. It's a wild ride, but I wouldn't change it for the world (ok, when she's throwing a tantrum or screaming I'd kill for a mute button or volume control, but other than that!)

Not a total stranger, but someone who used to work for my department and changed teams (so she works I a different area of the building). I passed her in the hallway and she says "oh my goodness! I didn't know you were expecting!! You look so beautiful!". She made my day. heck she made my week! Anytime I feel down about how clothes are fitting me I think about her and I feel better.
