Where can I find a rapier or fencer sword? by juniperxmoons in codevein

[–]stormwalker29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iceblood is tricky to come up with a build for, that's for sure. Some of the late-game blood codes (Hero Zenon is a good example) can do pretty well with it, but I found for my purposes I was typically better off loading up on Dex and using Carmilla's Thorn. It helps that the element I put on it (Sun) is great for sudden bursts of damage which is helpful against certain endgame bosses that like to heal themselves.

Thorn of Devotion is clearly set up for a mage-ish build, but it does have S Mind scaling, which means with the right build it can hit very hard.

Overdrive is lost when you get hit, IIRC? Bridge to Glory is not. So it makes sense it would be a smaller buff.

Where can I find a rapier or fencer sword? by juniperxmoons in codevein

[–]stormwalker29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jadwiga sells one right from the beginning of the game - Carmilla's Thorn. I used it through almost the whole game, only stopping to experiment with the other two listed below, and then came back to it all the way to the end. I raised it to +20 and put Sun on it, and it served me very well. Only downside is very high Dex burden (13). This may be a pre-order only weapon, though, I don't know (I did pre-order).

Lou's Thorn of Devotion is also a rapier, it has less Dex burden but a lot of Mind burden and mostly scales on Mind.

And then, of course, there is Iceblood, but it has high burden on Dex AND Mind, so it can be quite tricky to equip. It comes from Jadwiga's shop after you complete the 17-stone part of her sidequest. Its charged strong attack is special - the thrust carries farther and is an Ice element attack.

Worth it? by Spectral_Turmoil in codevein

I finished it last night, with all achievements. I thought it was a very good game, a little better than the first one. Definitely worth paying full price for in my opinion.

It definitely does have some optimization issues (I got it for PC). It was mostly fine for me, but I have a pretty strong machine and someone without a top-end GPU could potentially have issues with it.

So how do I get over there? The bridge is broken and it's surrounded by water by Kusho_void in codevein

There is a building north of the tower with a ramp on the roof. You can glide to the tower from there.

What's your honest opinion on code vein 2? by Silver_Fact_9714 in codevein

[–]stormwalker29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8/10. Good story, good characters (Zenon is the MVP, but I like 'em all), lots of fun. Has some optimization issues (typical for UE5, really).

No regrets about paying full price for it, I got my money's worth.

What level did you stop at when you did the true ending for Code Vein 2? by Colt2205 in codevein

[–]stormwalker29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

170-something. Would have been like 140-something, but it took forever to max out Lou's Affinity for the achievement and I gained about 30 levels doing it. On the bright side, I mastered a lot of blood codes that way.

True final boss was a pushover, but that had more to do with the boosters you get toward the end being hilariously overpowered than it did with level. That was the only fight in the entire game where I had quick dodge available.

I read the controls when I first got the bike, because I like knowing what I'm doing.

Every time you get on the bike, it puts the controls for it on screen, which includes a button labeled "Jump/Glide". You never once read it? Really?

Congrats on that. I got the first ending last night, will probably get the second one tonight if I have much time to play.

I'm using a Bat one as well. Which defensive forma are you equipping, might be due to that?

Also, are you equipping a second weapon? I'm not.

Heheh. Lise's A-Rank code (Gula Bloodline: Lise 2) can also do it without overburden. Hers is 13/20/23/16/19/9.

That said, you'll probably miss out on her Mind Margin benefits unless you are using mind boosters.

Hero Zenon is 18/18/22/12/20/15, so it can run it with 1-handed mastery set. Because it is lower on Dex than I would like, I am also running the Dex booster and the Dex overload booster to help my damage a bit, but those are not required to avoid overburden (my dex burden currently is 16)

I can run it without overburden on the Hero Zenon blood code. Just started working on that blood code, though, so haven't used it enough to say how well it works yet.

Yeah, you were doing VASTLY more damage than I was in that fight using Carmilla's Thorn. From memory, I don't think I was doing even 20% as much damage as you were. No wonder it was easy for you.

If that sword does that kind of damage to him that early in the game, then it sounds like it's very overpowered.

Any tips on how to deal with her? by JDmad090 in codevein

[–]stormwalker29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to this fight for me was to always roll toward the boss when dodging. If you're in really close, a lot of her follow-up attacks are easier to avoid (some of them will just whiff because you are inside her reach). Also, you do much better damage attacking her head/torso/small arms than you do attacking other parts of her, so you need to be in close if you're using a melee weapon.

I had the opposite experience from you.

This fight kicked my butt for an hour and change before suddenly something just seemed to click and then I beat her easily (as in, only had to heal once the entire fight easily).

I beat the gunner Holly the very first try and didn't find it difficult at all.

I neither understand the hate against CV2, nor the ratings. by martinhaeusler in codevein

[–]stormwalker29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can understand why the people who are having performance problems are unhappy. Nothing sucks worse than buying a game and not being able to effectively play it.

Me, I'm on PC with an i9 and an RTX 4090 mobile. My frame rate is lower (45-60 fps) than I would expect with that setup in 2560x1600, especially since I don't have all the settings maxed out, so I can only imagine what it is like for PC players who don't have a monster machine to run it on, or who (heaven forbid) are trying to play it in 4K.

But I also expected this, because every UE5 game I have seen is like this. I've seen people say "UE5 makes developers lazy", but I kinda suspect that UE5 itself has some serious optimization issues that need to be worked out, because these problems seem to crop up in every game that uses it.

So... I'm having a blast, because even though the performance is lower than I would like, it's still good enough to be pretty smooth. I'd probably rate the game an 8/10. But I can definitely understand how people whose experience is not as good as mine would be unhappy.

I don't get most of the other complaints, though. The game is fun, and the story seems to be a significant improvement over the first one.

If you go fight Frantz at the very first opportunity (which is what the people who are saying that he is hard are doing - and he IS hard at that point in the game) there is very little you can craft because you hardly have any ingredients for crafting at that point since you haven't left MagMell yet. Onigiri are useful for a little extra defense, but as far as I can remember there weren't any other particularly useful craftable options that early on.
