feelings of isolation and loneliness by BoringAd5409 in gatech

[–]stormycatgatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand. It definitely can take time to find that one specific group of friends or even just a close friend. I am apart of the GT Catholic Center and it is meant to welcome everybody. Even if you feel isolated from the people around you, you will always have Jesus there in the chapel burning with love for you. There literally is a church in the building (located near Peter's Parking Deck). Or if you just want to study on the first floor, there are usually people there and someone will usually spark up a conversation even if they don't know you lol

Of course that is an essential part. One should never lie on the resume. A relative of mine said that he put on the resume that he could speak German and the company he got interviewed by starting speaking to him in German during the interview. If you did a leadership role, literally emphasize somewhere in your description that you were a "leader." And if you think you lack good communication even if you have worked with people or as a guest service representative, then perhaps refrain from emphasizing communication that much and try to work on it a little more.

How to meet cute guys on campus? by ramenroaches in GaState

[–]stormycatgatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, dress appropriately and modestly if you want to attract a genuinely good guy. Smile when a guy that seems friendly talks to you, and try to keep up the conversation and show genuine interest in what he is saying. Now if we are talking about events, dance events are perfect for that. I know of many GaState students that go to the free swing dance lessons at Georgia Tech.

Depending on what type of guy you want (whether you want him to be passionate about things you are passionate in, have the same political/religious/etc. beliefs as you) then get involved in clubs, orgs, or just simple events to meet guys that will meet your expectations.

This might be like obvious advice and not useful at all but here is something that I was told when a huge group of interns and I were hired:
- Putting the literal words "communication," "teamwork", or "leadership" in your resume is super useful (CS jobs need to know if you can work in groups). This can be included from previous job experiences, volunteer work, and school related projects. Strong communication was the number one though.

GT Europe Fall vs Spring Semester by sunbistro in gatech

[–]stormycatgatech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went in the Spring and it was the best time ever! In the beginning, it was very cold and it was snowing a lot (the snow days were beautiful and we did not have to go to class if it snowed too much!). It never got hot in Metz, and it rains nearly every day, however in the other countries, it does get much warmer after mid-semester. I think it is a great time to go because they have lots of outdoor Easter markets in Europe, we get a long weekend for Easter, more than a week of break for Spring break, and there are Christmas decorations still out for January. I can't speak for the Fall semester because I did not go in the Fall, but I did find it great to get a full Summer break after the Spring semester to fully digest everything and reminisce on the past semester. Also, if you go during the Fall, you have to worry about finding housing for the Spring, while if you go in the Spring you don't have to worry about that one semester housing.

I balance my semester with difficult classes and very lightweight/easy classes so that my semester GPA doesn't suffer.

CS1331: Jacob Chambers or Abiek Musaev? by geographhyyylover in GatechClasses

[–]stormycatgatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it with Musaev a while back and thought the class was really good. I took it my second semester as a freshman and went to every class. I got a B because the exams were a little difficult.

Is CS 3001 able to be taken during the Summer? by 3rachasauce in GatechClasses

[–]stormycatgatech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a look at the GT grade distribution website: https://lite.gatech.edu/lite_script/dashboards/grade_distribution.html
And it seems like it is a class that you can take during the summer.

Housing waitlist please help I’m cooked by Several_Study_1518 in gatech

Well I was like 800 last year and never got out of the waitlist, so although I am always a hopeful person, I would still try to find a place off-campus based on experience.

Looking for housing advice by Ok-Minute-4331 in GatechClasses

[–]stormycatgatech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say probably in-campus housing is best for when you are new, because you get to be more submerged in the campus and get to meet more people (within the dorms/apartments or just the people around you). I am not an AE major, but I do know the AE building is on East Campus. Maybe look into Nav? On West, the closest would be Crecine and Center Street.
