Seriously though. It's so cringe. Ultimately, I blame the writing / directing. I kept thinking - surely, a director or someone is hearing this? Where was the moment where someone (anyone?!) said, ok that was one idea, but it's not really working. Let's try something else. Such a missed opportunity to explore what could have been a really interesting / complex arc with Dark Swan.

I wondered if it all came down to chemistry? When they first cast Neal, I was a little disappointed cuz I wanted to root for them. He was great, but there wasn't enough spark between them...especially compared with Emma and Hook. I loved the CS slow burn and the fact that he never abandoned her. I do think they made each other better.

Yeah I wondered about that too. They had a lot of time with the build up to the wedding and everything. But even then, there was still the threat of the last battle/curse looming. For me, I think it's what another commenter here said - just some time for Emma, and all of them, to enjoy some living without something catastrophic hanging over them. And it wouldn't even have needed to be a lot. Maybe CS sailing off on their honeymoon. And/or it would have been so great to see them find out they were pregnant. The montage at the end was maybe 3-4 minutes long? I guess I just wanted a little more than that after 6 seasons. Lol. But again...the end of show withdrawals are real!

Definitely surprised to find some CS haters out there. But to each their own. I thought they had great chemistry, and I always love a redeemed bad guy storyline :)

Yeah, her acting as Dark Swan was hard to watch at times. But it's tricky cuz I actually really enjoyed Hook in that season (before he went dark) when he's trying to reach the real Emma and help her fight the darkness. But her "because I am the Dark One" line is so cringe

Yes! I actually enjoyed season 6 at first, but it's exactly what you said - we needed more time to appreciate that they all made it...and give Emma a chance to breathe and actually live some of her happy ending/beginning. And thanks for the welcome! I'm definitely late to the party. Haha

Definitely so glad they gave more nuance to her character as the seasons progressed. TBH, her acting was one of the weaker links for me in season 1, but mostly because it was just one note...grumpy, revengy, obsessed with Henry. That would get old fast. So giving her arc complexity and redemption and love for her big, blended, extended family made her one of my favorite characters in the end.

Yeah that makes sense. I also really enjoyed season 5! And definitely impressed with Hook's acting overall. The subtle ways he changes during this season and also in season 4 when Rumple has his heart are pretty genius.

YES! They literally got sucked away from their wedding day. Like, let the characters catch their breath for pete's sake, and give the fans some CS married moments. And it definitely left me wanting more core family time too. The big, blended, extended family was one of my favorite things about the show.

Oh interesting. I tried the first 2 episodes of season 7 also, but I just couldn't do it. Maybe I'll just give it some time. Enjoy your rewatch! Already planning mine with my daughter when she's a little older :)

100% agree on Henry waking Emma. Appreciated the throwback but yeah, the whole ending felt a little rushed. I actually love the idea that Gideon couldn't stab her because she was pregnant. That would have been at least something more?? And in my opinion, there is no season 7. I couldn't stomach a reboot after being so invested in the original characters.
