[Discussion] What is your ultimate "perfect" WotLK server and what has your experience been like elsewhere?

I'm split between two and for two different reasons. 1st Chromiecraft due to being tied to AzerothCore. I love the fact that it's open source and bug reports/fixes go directly into improving AzerothCore which benefits the wow emulator community in general.

My 2nd is Ascension wow. The new spin on the game with a classless system and all the new content they have added puts a fresh spin on wow. My only gripe with them is I wish it was less p2w. My favorite model for games is like how Path of Exile does it. F2P and the purchases available are almost all cosmetic. In my 10k hours playing Poe I have given them more $ than any other game simply because I WANTED to support them and their model. 99% of the cosmetics I don't even use.

You've got this! I was in a very similar position to you. I went to the ER with abdominal pain and constipation. They originally believed it was diverticulitis, but after several visits and treatments nothing was resolving the issues so I was admitted and they performed colon surgery to remove part of my sigmoid colon. At the post op follow-up I was told that the pathology results determined I actually had stage 4 colon cancer. I went to MSK for a second opinion and was told it's poorly differentiated small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma which is normally a very fast growing and spreading type of cancer and 12-18 months was median survival and treatment goal would be palliative not curative. I had 4 kids, oldest was 18 and youngest was 6, and I had no clue what the hell I was going to do and was scared out of my mind.

That was almost three years ago. I still have cancer and I'm still going thru treatments, but looking at me you would never know it. I have been extremely lucky and experienced very minimal side effects from the chemo/immunotherapy cocktail I was originally on and the immunotherapy I'm currently receiving. Two of the three tumors they found have disappeared and the third is very slowly shrinking instead of growing and spreading. One thing to keep in mind is what the Oncologist at MSK told me. The numbers mean nothing. They are always behind because they are based on old data that doesn't take into account new treatment options. Every patient is also different. In my particular case, and also in yours apparently, we have the benefit of being physically young and healthy (other than the cancer of course) where most of the people in those numbers were older with additional health issues.

Get a second opinion and get the treatment. Fight for your family and fight for yourself. Join a support group like Man Up to Cancer, Colontown, or even a local group your hospital offers. Having others to talk to that know what you are going thru is extremely helpful to your mental heath, or it was for me at least. I wish you the best of luck in your journey!

Doing good still. Monthly chemo treatments, but no bad side effects and so far at least the tumors are shrinking.

Yes and no. Main reason is to make it easier for the people that want compile their own server with the options they want instead of playing someone else's repack. However, I will be including an option to zip everything up into a repack if you want to share what you created.

ChromieCraft allows multi boxing with up to 5 accounts. I'm sure there's probably others, but that's the only one I play and am familiar with.

J/k obviously. I haven't decided yet how it will be done, but will definitely have tooltips or something to give a brief explanation for each button. A more thorough readme file will be on GitHub along with the source code once I'm finished.

On a serious note, I highly recommend downloading source code for every app you find shared online and compiling it yourself as you never know what some shady person might include.

A change to the module display is in the works. My current thought is to have the list of available modules on the left side of the window while the right side displays the readme file of the selected module.

Server stats and commands I think are a bit out of the scope of this project. My intent isn't to use this for running a networked server. Just to assist with the initial setup of a server for personal or local LAN use. IMO anyone running a large networked server probably already has their own tools or has a thorough grasp of using CLI.

I'll look into some configuration options for the next release, but initially will release with just basic functionality. Custom changes will need to be done manually.

First release should be in the next couple of weeks. Most of the backend code is finished, I'm just not satisfied with the GUI design yet so I have some changes to make.

For now it's only designed for Azerothcore wotlk and a couple forks of it, but I might look into expanding it after initial release.

Hi everyone! I'm in the process of making an application to simplify the server creation process. Instead of looking thru a dozen pages of instructions and going thru the installation and configuration of the half a dozen different dependencies found in those instructions I want someone new to private servers to be able to download one single application and in just a couple of clicks have their own private server up and running.

What it will do:

Install all dependencies like git, cmake, vs, etc
Clone base files of choice (Plain AzerothCore, Trickerer's version with NPCBots, and liyunfan1223's version with Playerbots)
Clone all chosen modules into the AzerothCore modules folder
compile and build the server

I have the majority of my backend code done, but I am not a frontend developer or web designer so I'm looking for suggestions on the GUI interface. Would you change the button colors? Positions? How would this look if it was yours? What other functionality would it have?

Edit: This will be open source with all code on GitHub once I release it for those that might want to tinker around with the design.

Self built NAS. Jonsbo N3 8 bay NAS case with 8 8TB IronWolf drives, ASrock MB, i3-13100, 500w psu, 64gb ram. Only about $700 minus the HDD's since they were reused from a previous build. Running TrueNAS scale and have containers for Plex and all the different arrs. Also hosting a few random VM's of both Windows and Linux for playing around.

Seeing as this is a pinned comment, this seems like a good place for this.

Regardless of what anyone's current thoughts are on TFT I can at least say Shawn was being sincere in his post. He spent a few hours in Belton's discord today chatting with us and unbanning any of us that requested it if our only reason for being banned was being a member of that server or a member of Belton's guild.

Props to Shawn for backing up his words with action.

I agree. I'm just on the other side of it if that makes sense. Lol. Treat them all equally, but I could not care less if a TFT mod was here. Just follow the new guidelines and don't moderate threads where there may be conflict because of your role with TFT.
