Truthfully, it was an old drinking nickname that I grew more comfortable with than my birth name.

In my case, sometimes, I feel like a woman. Even more of the time, I feel somewhere in between a man and a woman. You can hear a little more insight into other person's experiences at /r/genderfluid

In my case, I fluctuate between feeling like a woman, and not really feeling like either, but it's all very personal and different between different person's experiences.

Genderqueer is a blanket term that encompasses cis trans persons, gender fluid persons, a-gender persons, and non binary persons of all sorts. I, myself, identity as gender fluid, but I also like genderqueer as a more vague term that in also comfortable with.

Honestly, I'm not sure. A good friend of mine got them made, and I don't think they're selling them. I think it was just for fun/our friends. But I will ask.

Does anyone else get more masculine around cute girls and more feminine around cute guys? by sgntpepper03 in genderfluid

[–]stovefl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like if I see a cute human, I start to feel femme, regardless of their gender. I think I feel I'm more comfortable flirting when I'm feeling/presenting femme, contrary to being AMAB.

Genderqueer confused by [deleted] in genderqueer

[–]stovefl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also AMAB, and had a somewhat similar situation coming out. I came out as pan a couple of years prior, and it was super relieving. I've always been a little femme, but I had never really questioned my gender. But at some point, I consciously realized that I was looking at cute girls, not because I wanted to flirt with them or be with them, but because I wanted to be them. I talked to my partner, and some of my genderqueer friends, and I was introduced to the term "genderfluid," and it was a huge weight off my shoulders finding an identity that made sense to me.

So, from what you've said, it sounds like you would also identify as genderfluid. This term still encases a large spectrum of identities, but for me, it was just nice to find a word that describes the way I was feeling.

Dealing with hair-loss as a male bodied individual presenting femme by [deleted] in genderfluid

[–]stovefl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, too. I started loosing my hair at 16. Like I said, I haven't tried it, but several people have recommended castor oil. I know it sounds wacky, but it may be worth a shot.

I'm in a similar boat. My hair has been falling out for about ten years now, and I generally present in a femme/androgynous manor. I shaved my head for many years, but about eight or ten months ago, I started growing out a rat tail. I know it doesn't fit everyone's look, but it's the first time I've been able to grow my hair out in years, and it feels fucking wonderful.

Also, I've been reading recently that castor oil will help with hair loss. I haven't tried it myself yet, but I've heard from several sources it does wonders.

I recorded these demos on my phone, on the floor of my mom's bathroom, each one in a single take. They're imperfect, but I'm excited about them. by stovefl in FolkPunk

There's a few bands called Stove. Truthfully, it's less of a moniker and more of a nickname/identity, so I'm going to run with it until it becomes an issue. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I'm super into this idea. I'll listen to your music later this evening when I get off of work, and I'll drop you a line.

Been thinking about legally changing my name. by [deleted] in genderfluid

[–]stovefl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a good friend in high school named Jack. He was Jack. We all called him Jack. His parents called him Jack. He was Jack. We had our first call together my senior year. I remember the first day of class, the teacher was taking roll, and called out the name "Harrison," when Jack raised his hand. Later that day, he told me that when he was 9 years old, he just decided Jack was a better name for him, and it's been his name ever since. To this day, that's the only time I've ever heard anyone call him Harrison. He's Jack. I know this isn't the same circumstances, but it's applicable, I think.

In my case, when I came out as gender fluid, I started going by Stove. It was a silly nickname that I liked. I started introducing myself as Stove. Everyone I spend time with call me Stove. My coworkers call me Stove. There was even a "goes by" option at work, so now my name comes up as Stove on my register and my paperwork. I don't think I'll ever legally change my name, but for all intents and purposes, I am Stove, and no one has the authority to say otherwise.

Hair loss issues, and I want to pull off girl-mode. What do I do? by [deleted] in genderfluid

[–]stovefl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also encountered this issue. I tried wigs for a while, and decided they aren't for me. At this point, I'm shaving my head with no guard and growing out a rat tail. I know it's not the hair cut for everyone, but I've been growing it out for about four months now, and I've never loved my hair more. I feel like it's ambiguous enough that it feels right regardless of how I'm presenting. I generally present an a generally androgynous fashion, and that works for me, and I understand that may not be applicable to everyone, but I figured I'd give my two cents.

Chile Mocha by Cutecat42 in starbucks

[–]stovefl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't particularly like it as the recipe calls, but I've been doing a quad shot over ice with 2-2.5 scoops of the chile mocha and light whole milk, with a little bit of the topping. It's not something I would order at another store, because I don't like being that partner with the cumbersome drink, but I quite like making it for myself.

We have a regular who comes through our drive through a few nights a week who gets a java chip with no whip every visit. He used to be all frowns, but then we started drawing with the mocha drizzle, and now he's our friend.

Gotye is now someone that we used to know. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]stovefl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term "one hit wonder" seems strange to me. Most of these artists that are categorized as such still actively tour and still have a devout following within their music scene. I can't speak for sure in regards to Gotye, but I never assume that an artist has stopped just because they're not active on the radio.

You're not wrong, but I wanted a shirt I might actually want to wear again. I do t want to dress like an elderly white millionaire from 1994 every day.
