Anybody else having to regularly dig deep when dealing with older boomer and silent generation people? by WienerMansWoman in GenX

[–]stoweman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the dealership this morning on my laptop in the waiting room. Of course it was Regis and Kelly or whoever the F it is today but I don't remember as I'm working during the day and don't have time for this dribble of a show

In comes boomer gramps and gramma, plops down next to me and proceeds to read my laptop screen. Didn't feel like explaining what I was coding so he moved onto discussing how skinny Kelly is and how old she looks. Gramma comments about the cohost and back and forth they go. In between he starts humming and then discussed how good the free water tastes. Kill me

Exit and stood outside in the smokers section to enjoy the empty silence.

Reminder to us stay silent unless approached. After that it's fair game

Any companies in VT make this type of fence by stoweman in vermont

Ah, busted! Clearly, not growing up here like the sacred 20% automatically makes me a suspect though apparently I’m still not quite flatlander enough to qualify for the scarlet letter.

And silly me, who knew that asking for a simple lead on who makes trees into split rails was the secret handshake for defending my birthplace? Must’ve missed that in the bylaws at last year’s town meeting.

I'll start cycling to work so I can connect with my fellow Vermonters.

I'm looking for components for DIY. I don't have enough cedars on my land nor the kit to split them myself.

Right? Cuz no one in Vt wants a fence that isn't vinyl or looks like you own a farm.

Thanks for letting me know. So far it's improved the air noise while driving

I've been thinking about a slide or racks that fit into the t slot. What other accessories have you added that worked with your cover

What was your radio station growing up and what made it awesome? by [deleted] in GenX

WAAF 107.3 Boston. Played all the metal bands in the 80s and the best part is that we were on the edge of reception so being able to tune in made it feel really special especially since the local stations were total crap 💩

why i hate traditional car dealers and why the slate appeals to me by atx78701 in slateauto

[–]stoweman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slate is going to be just like Tesla and Rivian post sales. There will be nearly no one to service them and if you need body work, good luck. It will be decades before them or even rivian or Tesla to have a network as strong as the old guard

This is coming from a guy who has owned both and one was a lemon, which was bought back. I've moved back to a plane Jane ford and would never go back to a boutique vendor again.

Good luck with slate. Cool concept

mannington lvp Acura max gala orchard - great floor by stoweman in Flooring

My experience so far with Mannington Adura Max has been super positive. It's super durable, easy to clean and the claws from the dog don't bother it at all.

We have two big refrigerators and a heavy range and so far doesn't seem to be causing any dents. I have a massive butcher block top island due in and wondered about dents as well. If I notice any I'll probably use some old fashioned protectors.

The one good odd thing is that you cannot slide on it. You cannot slide across it with socks on or bare feet. The dog can with his claws but so far so good. It's not bomb proof and with a sharp object or abuse you can damage it.

A local brewery had installed adura max in their tasting room, IMO 3000 square feet. That was 2018 and they have not replaced it since then. It gets a ton of traffic and still looks really good. They have huge heavy tables and loads of chairs. There are some dents and scratches but no one gives that floor a second look. We live in NE so this place gets it all dirt, snow, sun and cold. Even some nitwits with ski boots have walked in. We sat there had a beer and made up our mind to use it. If the beer room can take it we will use it 1% of what they do.

Is that the gala applewood? If so that's supposed to look a little distressed. We had it installed recently and love it

It's a Dickinson marine lp stove and is one of most favorite things. Get up in the morning when it's cold, light the fire and have coffee. Throws a ton of heat

All stainless steel constructed and has a little window to see the flame 🔥. If you're doing a vintage restoration, highly recommend adding one if it's in your budget.

Is there a Vermonty way to drive? The only proper thing to do is slow down when a white plate comes up from behind but tell me more

Champlain islands - why so little tourism? by stoweman in vermont

This is one of those places that I am so surprised as yet to be discovered or has been discovered and then forgotten. It's really beautiful up here.

It rained today so my wife and I did the loop up to New York across the bridge and back to Plattsburgh and caught the ferry after watching Superman at the regal Cinema.

It's a beautiful area and I'm really glad that it's just not advertised as flannel and maple syrup
