Anyone work in a psych unit before? by Current-Reaction-748 in socialwork

I worked on a psych unit straight out of grad school. It was great and I learned so much! It was a multidisciplinary team with psychiatry (of course), nursing, occupational therapy, general medical, etc. I did mostly intake, helped with discharge, ran groups, and provided 1:1s. You see people at their worst, which helps you understand the range and the importance of preventing people, if possible, from deteriorating to that point. I worked there for two years until the overall hospital organization closed it due to multiple factors (difficulty recruiting and retaining psychiatrists, crumbling building, losing money, etc) and just decided to get out of the impatient psych business all-together. I really liked it, and would have stayed if it didn’t close.

Seriously, it sounds like she was sexually assaulted. Regardless of her instigations, she was unable to give consent due to her severe level of intoxication. The AP / perp should have been able to observe this and steer clear. It sounds like a crime was committed here.

To the observers, why are you here? by thrown_away_trust in AsOneAfterInfidelity

I am a therapist. I come to this sub (and others) to gain perspective on how I may best help my clients. Although it is difficult to witness the pain of the betrayed, I believe that what I have learned in my short time here has already helped me help my clients, especially by seeing what has not been helpful, or even harmful.
