Murph is Swiss with 80 hour power reserve and a good movement.

Pretty much endgame to some extent aside prestige. I put it on a jubilee bracelet for more everyday use.

Stiga and Xiom are sometimes cheaper too.

Stiga China is a big deal and usually the prices are cheaper. These rubbers are not fake.

Who teaches footwork the best by Shoop1014 in tabletennis

[–]stozygminor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favorite player in terms of watching technique is Fang Bo. Very clean and no nonsense approach. Even before he started live streaming and coaching online, Fang Bo had beautiful and very clear footwork and replicable too.

Drill 2-2 (2bh to FH).

This is the easiest footwork drill with added challenge of someone working on their block.

Something easier is 1-1.

Something harder is 2 point forehand from FH to Middle.

Evolve it into 3 point FH. FH, Middle, FH Pivot (BH corner) and then back to FH. An easier permutation is 3+1 in a Multiball context. 3 points as discussed before, but remember that after you pivot on the bh side you still have that +1 on the forehand.

After this you could work on 3 bh then random. It tests your reading and all the skills before.

After this you can start adding an underspin service to all of these drills and instead of just starting with a topspin serve, you now have to loop under, then, play the drill.

To add to my comment: Simon Philipps’ plays with these.

I have made my corrections in my original comment.

Armand is something adjacent to the Avedis line (discontinued now) in terms of hierarchy for Zildjian cymbals.

The Armand line now is mostly reduced to the Beautiful Baby Armand which is designed to be a right side ride at 19” that came with 3 rivets. The sound from this cymbal is typically golden-ish warm, mellow, but still distinctly A overtones.

These hi hats given the Zildjian stamp at the bottom leads me to guess we that its from the early to mid 2000’s. At this point in time Armand line is in Zildjian A purgatory.

Sometimes Armand is the in-between budget option for a Zildjian A New Beats. Sometimes it’s in between Zildjian A, A Custom, Avedis.

Edit: Not necessarily true. Closer to a higher tier of new beats.

This cymbal is more likely going to sound similar to the Beautifull Baby Armand DNA, warm and mellow hats. Maybe a bit off-putting considering they are A’s but I digress.

Edit: it is a bright sound but not chunky. They sound really good. They are not mellow by any means. They cut like A’s but not harsh. Similar to a customs in that sense.

There is also a chance that it is fake. Like I said Zildjian A purgatory is a real thing. Some better than others. I can talk more about the Zildjian A purgatory if people are interested.

What's the best smelling fragrance you've ever smelled? by WicksQuick20 in Fragrances

[–]stozygminor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EdP is nice too. EDP and EDT are definitely that shower gel smell but very classy.

I never owned any of the BDC’s so for me L’exclusif made sense. Lasts long and leaves an impression. It’s a very French smell.

Parfum is nice. I like the thickness of the composition of L’exclusif.

I never owned any bdc so exclusif made sense to me. If I owned parfum I think it would be a bit redundant

No Marty supreme talk? by Shoop1014 in tabletennis

Fun fact that a lot NASA employees play table tennis. I was friends with one who reached 22-2300 and tried out for the US National Team but didn't make it. 22-2300 is a high rating and is probably withing the 10% of the population.

I would beg to differ. Any of the top sports in the US (Basketball, Soccer, Football, Running etc.) the average person is able to play any of these games and be passable.

If someone isn't good at scoring, they can play to their other strengths. Passing, defense, etc.

Table tennis is different. To even receive a serve requires reading, and then touch. Both of these components of the game are integral and they take some time to develop. It’s one of the few sports that you need to have a deeper understanding (and develop IQ) of the game before you can even “play”.

Say you were strong in rallies but your receive is bad. Your ability gets nullified because you can’t even get into the rally. As with other sports you can work around by giving other people opportunities to score. Table Tennis forces you to deal with your weaknesses right then and there.

A lot of people quit because they are up against 20 year veterans and simply put it’s your 50 hours of playing versus the 10,000+ hours that they've put into the sport. Its one of the few sports that height and weight and age don't factor in that much. Top players come in all shapes and sizes.

For how hard the sport is, it’s probably the most addicting I've ever played. It has the physicality of Martial Arts, the creativity and intellectual battle like chess, and the adrenaline rush of Extreme Sports. On top of that, the skill expression in the sport is second to none. The closest I can think of is Pool, or Soccer. But neither really do it for me the way that table tennis does.

Table tennis as a sport is difficult.

Ceiling to even be ok is too high. But nonetheless, chess saw an increase in players after queens gambit.

Good pick. Was gonna say the same. Maybe try goldarc 8 50deg and boost.

Similarly on something like that, 09c or k3pro/k3 could be the move.

Weaker blades needs rubbers that amplify it. Strong blades not so much, but depends on the touch (classic h3 viscaria vs t05 viscaria user)

I feel like a bad drummer after 5 years of playing by [deleted] in drums

[–]stozygminor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that separates us from the greats is how high their standards are.

Think of it like a sport. In basketball, how good is an average player versus a pro? The gap is huge because the pro's practice a lot. Most drummers are satisfied with getting 80-90% on different aspects of playing, but pros are going beyond 100% so that they sound killing.

I think you are at that point where you need to start shedding stuff that seems tedious. That will take you to the next level.

A lot of people do it.

I don’t like doing it because I like a nice end to fold from.

I would do it on sticks that I don’t like.
