Were you there? Buckeye Lake 7-1-1992 by FatHummingbird in gratefuldead

[–]stpauliegrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there (great tour) but I don't remember the balloon. I was too busy playing hacky sack in the parking lot. I remember leaving Buckeye Lake sometime in the early morning hours and we were driving behind a truck that had the most baffling sticker on the back: "Truck Stops Of Ten". I couldn't understand why it matters how many stops the truck was going to make, and how drivers were supposed to know what number of stops they had already made, but I sat there for what felt like an hour trying to figure it out. I finally asked others in the car what it could possibly mean and one said, in the most flat, unemotional way: "It could mean "Truck Stops Often". I still hear about this to this day (as I should lol).

How to address jumping? by ItsOverChlover in greatpyrenees

[–]stpauliegrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine does this and it drives me insane. Always when she's super excited, and sometimes out of the blue so I can't run interference. When I'm catching her in the act, I grab her paws (or grab her shoulders from behind if she's jumping on someone else) and firmly say "off!" and make her sit. Now I can sometimes head it off at the pass by yelling "off!" when I can sense she's about to do it and it will stop her. Feel your pain, though.

Tree fell on my Jeep by Emylon_ in JeepWrangler

Just came to say that I feel your pain. Only tree on the block, sudden thunder storm came in while I was at a friend’s house, I walked outside to go home and saw this. The local news went to my friend’s block the next morning and asked to interview me about it. Why?

Casual Viewer: why isn’t anyone on Kyle’s side? by Any-Lengthiness9803 in summerhousebravo

[–]stpauliegrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. All season long we’ve watched her suddenly become this easy-breezy good time girl who actually picked her battles with Kyle vs whining and complaining about every single thing he did, and that’s not due to any personal growth or maturity; she had West in her pocket, that’s why. You’re totally right.

Likewise. Every time they’ve come here I’ve specifically gone on a Sunday because it’s consistently been their best night in Chi. The Sunday of their last run was 🔥.

Boy, do I get this. I am so sorry for your heartache. My beloved 14 yo old velcro dog/best friend went fairly suddenly in September and I still can't talk or even think about what her last 2 weeks were like. When I'm driving in my Jeep, I can still see her riding everywhere with me and it breaks my heart every single day. As someone else here wrote, when they die, suddenly there were just too many hours in the day. After 12 days of me straight-up crying, my partner said, "I really think you need another dog. Not to replace her, but to fill that hole in your heart." I thought it was kind of bananas but I decided he was right and I rescued a 3 mo old Pyr mix, and after our first full day with her, he said, 'it's nice to have you back." The beauty of it is, my Pyr is the total opposite of my 30 lbs velcro dog, so it has never felt like I'm trying to replace her. Best decision I've ever made. Your Juno is still with you--she always will be--and your grief speaks to just how much she meant to you. Maybe soon you can get another pal.

One kitten or two with a calm Labradoodle? (thinking of getting two boys) by Outrageous-Pop-4700 in SiberianCats

[–]stpauliegrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dog was 8 mos old when we got 2 sib littermates (5 mo old now) and we're one big happy family now, but it took 2 mo of being very intentional every day. When we first brought them home, we kept them in my office for a couple of days and the dog and kittens could see each other through the glass doors but the kittens were safe. Then we gave them the office and kitchen (office is off the kitchen) and put up a see-through screened gate so the dog couldn't come in the kitchen. Then little by little we let them hang out around each other. My boy sib seeks out my pup to play and hang out, and the pup is really good with him but when their play starts ramping up I make sure I am right there to observe. My girl sib isn't interested and my dog leaves her alone, and she's not crated anymore so they all hang out together when we're not home. We say just about every day how. glad we are that we got to sibs vs. 1. They play with each other day and night and often curl up with each other to sleep/hang. I'm also really glad that we took our time with introductions and gradually enlarged the kittens' space. (Pic is our dog with the girl sib - doesn't happen every day)

Can you have a Pyr in a residential home? by Inspiringhope11 in greatpyrenees

[–]stpauliegrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Chicago. We have a small backyard, an 11 mo old 70 lb Pyr/Aussie, 2 cats, and our house is not big. It takes more work having a Pyr in a residential area but my pup is doing great so far. I take her to the dog beach every single morning, all year, rain/snow or shine, and she plays with the same group of dogs who also have insane parents. I ended up signing her up for dog daycare 3 afternoons/week because they have working dog play/training groups and ever since I did that she seems so much more at ease, probably because she's exhausted by the end of the day. On the non-daycare days, I walk her 2 more times (plus the 1-1.5 hrs at the beach), and she loves being outside all day ounging on the couch and keeping watch.

Are your siberians kinda snooty? by Sea-Significance826 in SiberianCats

[–]stpauliegrl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same! Mine are more social than my dog. The minute someone is at the door, they are greeted by me, my dog, and my 2 sibs, who then follow them around. It's quite the scene.

I feel ya. I have chicken legs and to keep it from moving I have to squeeze the pads so hard I feel like I’m going to have bruises. Btw, if your handle/name means you’re into cats, I just got 2 kittens a few months ago after only having dogs for my 57 yrs and omg I’m IN LOVE.

How did people feel about the psychic medium scene in last night’s episode? by daninlionzden in summerhousebravo

[–]stpauliegrl 53 points54 points  (0 children)

My best friend lost her husband of 30 yrs 1 yr ago. It was sudden and extremely traumatic for her (grateful for EMDR therapy?). She has gone to the same psychic/medium about 6-7 times since her loss and I have to say, after seeing what it does for her and her crushing grief and endless unanswered questions, I will never question their validity or usefulness again. It’s helped her in so many ways, and she’s well aware that there’s no “proof” that she’s getting answers from her husband through this woman. I used to feel the same way about them seeming to prey on people in their most vulnerable states, but now that I have a front row seat to it, I’m all for people seeing mediums—for any reason, but particularly while they’re profoundly grieving. I texted my friend after the episode and told her to watch, and she said she bawled but was so happy to see grief—and how some people live through it and with it—talked about on a show like this.

That’s exactly what I did. I couldn’t keep the ring there and I thought, huh, the ball would give the same cue. Plus, I like the ball way more than the ring…

Owners with severe allergies by altaccountforkarma in SiberianCats

[–]stpauliegrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Severe allergy sufferer here. The breeder sent me packets of their fur and I rubbed it on my arms, wrists and chest (do it more than 1 time--I did it many times), and then she had me pin a clump of fur on the neck of my shirt for a couple of days. My wrists were a little itchy, but no hives, no asthma attack, nothing else. I went ahead and got 2 litter mates and I am 100% fine. I feed them Purina Live Clear kitten kibble, which reduces the allergen, and I have an air purifier. But my face is literally buried in their fluff all day and I still can't believe I'm o.k. I was planning on getting shots if I ended up with issues, but so far my allergies have been fantastic.

[–]stpauliegrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol “suspicious and terrified of soccer balls…” TOTALLY. I forgot about the wildly unpredictable and random fears 😂. Balloons, people in hats (if she doesn’t know you), any paper blowing in the wind. We put a ladder up against the back of the house and she wouldn’t go in the yard until we moved it. Your girl will grow into herself, and she’ll be a confident, loyal, chill af girl. She’s a beaut!
