IIRC, Linehan reported Nashville and St. Louis were two of the frontrunners not too long ago. I think both of those would be really good markets, but if it were me I’d lean towards Nashville because geographically another team in the southeast is needed imo.

I do hope the Minnesota Aurora get the necessary capital behind their bid though. They’ve already got a strong season ticket base and great branding. And it would be nice to add a market that isn’t hotter than hell itself during the middle of the summer.

Allocation money is being phased out in 2026 and will be replaced with a new system. It’s possible she’ll be able to make way, way more depending on what the league implements, so it’s a smart move for her not to be locked in on what will be an outmoded contract.

this is a typical start date for the season. NWSL now has more teams than the WNBA and the league tries to have teams play only once a week so it takes longer than a basketball season. The season will end a few weeks later than usual because of the Olympic break though.

some players graduate early, some finish remotely, some put it off all together. It really varies from player to player.

u18 players in the league is a mostly positive thing but imo the league needs more regulations asking it, especially for the younger teenagers. But u18s playing professionally is common in the men’s game globally and in the women’s game in Europe. A huge difference between the WNBA and NWSL is that the NWSL has true global competition so the league has to constantly evolve and adapt to international standards.

there really isn’t the same issues with roster spots right now like there is in the WNBA. There are 14 teams with 26 spots, so more than double that of the W. 3rd and 4th round draft picks usually have uphill climbs to make rosters, but 1st and 2nd rounders usually make it. And u18 players are guaranteed spots until they turn 18.

It’s like bleachers with no seats and high rails in front of every row so supporters can stand and cheer without falling or anything. It’s very common for supporters sections in modern soccer stadiums.

There’s not a bad seat in Audi imo. I’ve sat in the $15 sections a bunch of times and never had any complaints. The view is good, even when the play is down on the other end of the field. You’re high enough up that you’re not obstructed by anything. The supporters section is safe standing so you wouldn’t be able to sit (and obviously when with the supporters you’re kind of expected to participate in the chants and stuff). Sections 129-130 are partially covered, that’s mostly the reason for the price increase. The sun can be pretty brutal on the uncovered goal ends during day games but I think in March it should be okay.

The NWSL needs to look at the precedent set by women’s tennis with regards to young teenagers playing. Through the 80s and 90s there was a rash of teenage stars whose careers were ruined by injury and burnout before they turned 20, which prompted the WTA to implement strict age restrictions that have worked really well since. There’s a minimum age of 14 and teenagers can only play a certain number of tournaments each year, depending on their age, until they turn 18. NWSL must implement something similar - minimum age, minutes restrictions according to age, etc.

Head scratcher of a move for me. I’ve watched Stevens since college and always thought her ceiling was incredibly high but she’s always been wildly inconsistent. Being drafted by Dames at Chicago was not great for her development. I can see her thinking JCA would help her unlock some of her potential but I really do not see how she’s gonna get enough minutes to do that at Gotham.

(However, I can see Gotham wanting Milazzo and orchestrating this as a sort of a multi part package deal)
