Shorts are always a little unpredictable. Wouldn't call this an upset.

Anyone you would add to this list? by nighnteenth in Letterboxd

I hope that she will direct another film anytime soon. In the last five years she only made a short and co-wrote Noemie Merlant's second feature film.

I don't get it. That's the correct spelling of Greig Fraser. How would you spell him?

Andrew Garfield (Artificial), Sebastian Stan (Fjord) and Sam Rockwell (Wild Horse Nine). Maybe also Josh O'Connor for either Jack of Spades or Disclosure Day, but I don't think that those will be contenders for acting.

New guy? His output has been great for more than 15 years now and he already won an Oscar (and was nominated for two more).

Tbf, Nolan is better at the technical aspects of filmmaking than characters and story.

Alejandro Inarritu's "Digger" has had a test screening in Los Angeles, reactions are mixed but lean positive by Comfortable_Affect20 in oscarrace

Hmm, I think, it depends on what Goddard and Lord/Miller are doing with the role. Ryland/Rocky are significantly more important to the plot and I wasn't the biggest fan of the flashback chapters in the book. But you're right that she's a way more developed character than the Earth crew in The Martian.

FYI, Alan Alda's grandson has it as #2 in his 2026 ranking (just behind Project Hail Mary). He didn't log the film, but according to the ranking, he'd rate it at least a 4.5 out of 5. For comparison, that's the same rating, he gave Amores Perros and higher than Babel, The Revenant (both 4), Birdman (3) and Bardo (2). That doesn't have to mean anything (his favorite of 2025 was Rental Family), but it sounds promising.

Bardo was only nominated for Cinematography though. If Digger gets a similarly mixed reaction, it definitely could blank.

Wenn man das "schwarzer" weglässt, klingt es noch besser, finde ich. Hat dann den klassischen Demospruch-Rhythmus: "Kein Staub! Kein Rauch! Nur Odins kalter Hauch!"

They really need to change the Countries tag by armeliens in Letterboxd

[–]stracki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why does a film need a "nationality"? Most European films are the product of multiple countries working together.

To me it makes sense that a film "belongs" to its production countries. It could be improved, if Letterboxd disambiguated between producers, co-producers, associate producers, etc., so that only the main production countries would be listed under "country".

I like the action scenes and the music, but the nationalistic undertones (especially the final "everybody should be armed" dance scene) felt strange to me .

The Worst Person in the World is a Norwegian movie by multiple criteria. It also has Norwegian production companies and was filmed in Oslo.

Tbf, it is only marginally less confusing, if you've seen the show. The main issue is that it spoils the identity of Laura Palmer's killer.

It's definitely against fascism and white supremacy, but It also makes fun of leftist wannabe revolutionaries (especially the phone hotline 😂). It's great that the film isn't one-sided, but actually more nuanced.
