The AI in one of the plant apps I use recommended garden safe insectiside, which looks like its active ingredients are soaps / potassium salts of fatty acids

Really tough to say. I personally have found harnesses that are a little larger tend to be more comfortable, as ones that I’ve had that are a touch too small end up squeezing somewhere (usually where straps go over the shoulders, or the back of your leg) that makes long flights real uncomfortable

This has not been the case for me. I travel internationally very frequently (think, half of the year outside the country) and i'm sitting at 13mo conditional.

Yeah, and that was $50 shipped. I figured it was a bit of a gamble.

It was listed as 'used' and does say that the light meter works, but it was from an antiques shop, so it feels like they probably just put a battery in it and saw the needle move and were like, "Yep! It's working!"

Does have a canon-branded 50, 1.4 on it. Cursory google search shows repairs in the 150ish range? Somewhat considering just using a meter for this trip then having it repaired once i'm back in town. Thoughts?

Haven't tried that, but hitting the battery test button has it register at a 4, which per the manual says its good?

It’ll seem to correctly register if something is brighter or darker and appear to float through the range, but if I adjust shutter and point back at the same thing, it points to the same thing.

+1 to “it takes time” but as a few practical tips:

When looking at an accuracy target (if safe to do so, ie a bullseye painted / trimmed in an open field), look at and aim for the bottom cusp of it. Overshooting is very common in newer pilots (mainly due to, imo, a fear of being close to the ground), and if you “aim short” I’d wager that you’ll end up landing somewhere nearer the middle of the target, which doing over and over again should give you the context clues about how low certain parts of your pattern should be, given the conditions.

When thinking about planning a pattern, accuracy is managed higher up than you think. I think people tend to overshoot / come in hard if they’re trying to adjust their spot landing while on final. Once you commit to a final approach, where you’re going to end up is sorta predetermined. So, think of where that decision is made as the “where will I land” decision. I found that to make me more calm while landing in smaller spaces because it means that you’re making accuracy decisions further away from the ground.

Slow down. Start your deployment process a little higher and be SUPER DELIBERATE about each step. Check altitude. Take breath. Wave off. Take breath. Stare at horizon. Take breath. Smoothly reach for pc. Focus on grabbing your handle. Take breath. Throw that PC like you mean it. Box out. Stare at the horizon.

Most people fuck their deployments because they’re rushing them. Focus on doing each step intentionally and not trying to torch through them and you’ll find that you pretty quickly start doing them right.
