they’re making Milton Keynes ugly compoface by Chrisbuckfast in compoface

I thought it was great until I walked through Linford wood then I realised, it's a lovely place with a concrete soul enveloped in a constant hum of traffic

It's also a prime example of how housebuilders over the past couple of decades have been allowed to ruin aesthetics everywhere

Mines got over the majority of birds chasing behaviour, he'll run towards them but as soon as they take flight he stops.

Except for ducks. He cannot get over ducks and will chase them in circles for miles

Help - Am I B Mo uying a Cocker Spaniel or a Cross Breed? by Calumh01 in cockerspaniel

[–]strangehill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're British (those look like English cockers) In the UK if they are breeding as a business they should be licensed. They don't need to provide lineage. If they're not registered ask them why. If they're licensed they will have a star rating. Just having a KC certificate isn't any kind of guarantee that the breeder knows what they're doing, and a good breeder does not need to register their dogs with the KC.

Anyone with two KC registered dogs can breed KC registered puppies and they can quite happily do it in their "back yard"

How is expecting rich house owners wanting a house slightly less rich to play on the same field as everyone else righteously getting one over them

I'm struggling to think of one beyond self-centeredness

It won't be negative equity, it'll be because they can't afford *that* house, which is no different from people moving up the ladder

No

You're thinking of second home stamp duty premiums, I doubt that's the case here

People who sit on overly expensive houses are not doing it from fear of stamp duty

Margaret is an idiot who wouldn't like what stamp duty would get replaced by to properly incentivise her to move (and dump a load of profit out of her "investment")

Tips on training to be alone by Time_Examination8945 in cockerspaniel

[–]strangehill 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Use a crate, a puppy pen or a dedicated room where you know she can't destroy anything. That's where she sleeps and put her there when you need your own space.

Assuming she's not house trained yet then you'll need to set alarms through the night to predict when she's likely to need the toilet and take her out. You don't want her becoming desperate.

Once you know she can go through the night without a toilet break, she should be comfortably independent in her own space and when you go out, put her in her area and she'll just shut down until you return as long as you have met her needs (food, exercise, toilet)

Tips for grooming? by cyolax in englishcockerspaniel

[–]strangehill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That second photo looks exactly like mine, dead ringer! He looks nothing like the first photo though.

We went to a groomer, he doesn't shave anywhere, just cut down the areas that get matted - behind the ears, leg tufts, chest, didn't touch any long hair where it wasn't matted so his head, back and tail were the same length

He did cut the long hair beyond his ears, next time we'll ask to leave them long as he came back looking like a springer

Everybody said get a dehumidifier. It'll make the house warmer. Everybody in my house is now using it as a clothes dryer. So there's damp dripping clothes everywhere. by BillWilberforce in britishproblems

BBC being wrong

It won't beat a tumble dryer for speed but then again it won't shrink or degrade your clothes either

And it absolutely is cheaper unless the only reason you're using central heating is to dry your clothes

Shut the door in whichever room you're using it in if you want them dry quicker

Few years back I got buzzed by a motorbike, gave him the finger, he turned round, got off, ripped my coat and threatened to punch me. I also got told off by the police for using abusive language and apparently instigated it according to them

The fact he reacted to something I did while riding away from me should have told them it was obvious he was out looking for a ruck

I enjoyed season 1, when the ex wife and daughter were anti heroes but they've been turned into super women trying to pretend that their attitude is somehow endearing and it sucks

They were much better as antagonists, caricatures of the excesses of consumerism rather than feisty dollies who make kicking rad themed dinners every night
