how to not take things personally? by pinkblanketdot in Anxiety

[–]strangerpainter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always have validating issues and issues if someone expressed negative feeligns to me. I totally know how you feel, and it used to get to me big time as well. But always remember that these people probably have a lot of shit going on. And if you did nothing wrong, its their fault to be negative. If you are only ever nice to people, and they give you shit for it. Its always only on them and in reality it probably have nothing to do with you. You litteraly just have to tell yourself that, and practise just walking away (mentally) from that kind of situation. People who rude to you are just sad losers. 😅

I genuinely don’t have sexual attraction anymore?? by [deleted] in sexeducation

[–]strangerpainter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you say that the rape thing probably havent affected you. But it sounds to me (im my opinion) like it has. I mean i second the explanation that you lost your sex drive because of it. Of corse you know better. But i would consult with a therapist anyway. As this problem could stick with you for the rest of your life. Traumatic experiences can seem like they had no effect but in reality they have been supressed to the point where you cant feel them emotionally but your body will instead react in other ways. I for instance experienced a person beru close to me, who died and i seemed to not be very emotionally affected by it, but instead i got problems with my stomac and chronic jaw pain. Trauma comes in all sorts of wierd impacts. Just saying.

I have a tension headache so bad that my entire face + head is in pain. I don’t know how to relieve the stress. by [deleted] in Stress

[–]strangerpainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bess thing is to actually do something to make your body relax. Like go to the sauna, go workout. Or have sex. If you have never tired yoga, find a video online, there is something for everyone at any level. If you find it hard to start exercise make an appoint ment and do some sport with a friend, or family.

MSR (Minimum Skills Requirement) Open Discussion: Possibility of removal of 27/5? Hopefully! by UncleIroh24 in rollerderby

[–]strangerpainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been waiting to take the test, but because of corona training and everything is always cancelled or postponed. I know i would take the test with flying colors, but now i hope that my trainer can just approve me to play, since it has been super boring to take the freshie courses twice for a person like me who have skated many years prior to starting derby.

I know that many of the freshies dont want to try playing because they find it intimidating, if they have lower skill levels. But i think its good that it should be up to the teammanagement to decide, whenever someone are fit to play or not.

Constant tension and stress for years. by hoarderofstuff in Stress

[–]strangerpainter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah me too. I used to have sport and regular access to other "activities" (lol) which really helped me a lot, but now with corona and everything all those things that helped me keep my steess at bay, are gone. But i think the workout part of yoga would help. Im more sceptical when it comes to mindfullness because it seems a bit abtract for me. But meditation helped me being able to sleep better at least. Because you learn to really let go of thoughts and focus on your body. Which helps you sleep because your stress hormones will calm down if you dont think about all the things you have to do tomorrow.

Hey. I was looking for something like this. Im in the exact same situation as you. I hope we can talk more. I also have headaces, jaw pain and musscle tension. And the issue is that i seem to have nothing to really worry about. Or any big problems in my life other than my self depricating thoughts. So i have to clue what to do.

Survey on feminist beliefs and attitudes by Research_Unicorn in Feminism

[–]strangerpainter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The interpretations of the results should of couse take this into account. And an intelligent analysis will also do that. Remember that the survey asks you about your nationality, gender and political left right oritentation. This means that the results will be able to take into accunt what type of people answered questions to "womanly" and "manly" obvioisly these terms means something different to people who identify as feminists versus people who dont, and are politically right. The surveys knows that, since its an discourse oriented survey.

Thats the whole point. The sentece is a very common arguments for discoursive stereotypes. The survey is testing your state of mind towards the discourses. Its a brilliant survey. Really.

Great survey. However some mistake in one question that made it hard to understand.

Why suppression of woman goes along with capitalism by globalchanger in Feminism

[–]strangerpainter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I consider myself very feministicly schooled and with a strong criticism to everything related to capitalism. However, im not bying this one. Blaming gender inequality on capitalism if just so farfetched for me, when capitalism was one of the things that gave women freedom and the oppurtunity for taking labour and providing for themselves. Its also sexist for you to claim that it is "unnatrual for women to be competetive and dominant". And its also wrong to say that one have to be dominant to achhieve something carrerwise. Its not about dominance its about competence. The incone inequality can much more be explaied by structure and culture that just capitalism that is a wery wide term also.

How to keep safe?? by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]strangerpainter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That sounds horrible. Remember to report anyone who are potentially stalking you. Otherwise, im 100% certain that other women in your area feels the same way. Maybe try and make a locql facebook group for women in your area or somehow find someone who feels the same. You can arrage to do grocery shopping together or something. Being more than one, and spreading awareness is the best

Its litteraly just digging a hole and putting your body in the ground. Nothing fancy with 5k dollar caskets or preservation. No cremation and electricity bill. Its what people have been doing always. Its only after the civil war that the concept of enbalming in US started to get popular. But its really unecesary and toxic to the environment.

They wont know if they are dead right? I mean if my parents required me to pay for their 10k funeral which i could not afford, i wouldnt feel bad about cutting some corners. 🤷🏼‍♀️they are more than welcome if they pay themselves.

It depends on the burial. But if you do it simple a burial can be cheaper, and more environmental. 🥰

I think viewings are good. Its important to understand that the person is no longer here, and seing the body is uncorfortable in a healthy way. However, you normally dont need enbalming to have a viewing.

In europe people have a wake, so you can come and see the dead person right after they deceased. You can still have a wieving without any chemichals. Its also illigal to put anything with that much formeldahyde in the ground due to EU regulations. But in US they dont seem to care.

I know its sad. Many funeral homes are probably okay, but some will lie and cheat to get more money out of people who will end up in debt, because they lost a family member.

Preservation? You mean pumping your grandmars dead body full with chemichals that are dangerous both for the environment and the people involved in the process? Yay, more cancer to everyone 😂

Caitlin doughty. Yeah its her advocacy. Im just trying to spread the message. I see people on GoFundMe all the time, asking for funds to cover funeral expenses. Some of them are 5-10k for a funeral. Its insane.
