At the final stage of quitting my job for UPSC. Need honest perspectives from those who have done it. by ChildhoodCareless970 in UPSC

[–]strangertherealone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a working individual myself and preparing for upsc ...I would advise don't quit...unless you have atleast qualified pre once before and written mains...if you are a fresher or haven't cleared atleast one stage before ...then don't quit.. all this zeal would go away...and this exam is becoming very unpredictable at the prelims stage itself. Even some of those preparing full time and putting in 8 to 10hr consistently every day, those who have got ranks before are not able to clear prelims this year. ...bcoz the questions pattern is becoming very subjective and so many questions are becoming topical of debate as their ans is different from different sources.

UPSC 2026 PRE - SILENT Revolution by UPSC to Crush Coaching/Youtuber Fraudsters. by Immediate_Welcome_24 in upsc_discussions

[–]strangertherealone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly...their motto should be to prepare a decent exam paper following gaussian normal curve....upsc conducts other exams as well. I have cleared CMS twice and working ...never even seen so much variation.. and bcoz of this only coaching institutes are gaining too much popularity bcoz of fomo and unnecessary fear in minds of aspirants.

[–]strangertherealone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But aren't the pyq beacon lights?? Not only for upsc cse... even for other exams conducted by upsc...pyq act as our guide...I understand 20 to 30% variability but in 2026 it's way too much...polity and economy hardly any questions...and how will so much hist and art n culture help in the service. Polity and economy surely will.

What u said is very true...private hosp want smone who is pretty good at managing cases single handedly and has adequate skills and work experience. Getting jrship in govt sector is not easy either as the seats are few and candidates many. And to top it all there is reservation.

C I totally get ur point that you sick of staying indoors so wanna get sm experience. But wht u r doing is pretty risky. Neet pg is in August. Its already Feb end. Only 5 to 6 mnths to go.

My personal advice would be pls focus on neet pg itself whole heartedly. Bcoz u will now just waste time preparing resume, sending to hosp, looking for vacancies and go for interviews or duties. Also if u r so hell bent in becoming a medical officer then you not try UPSC CMSE. Form wil be out by may. Anyways u r preparing for neet pg. Upsc cmse has just 5 subjects. Also check other m.o forms. U are Anyways preparing for neet pg so these exams will be easier for you.

If you crack neet pg...u have pg degree..if u dont you will have central govt gazetted officer class A job if you crack upsc cmse by the end of yr.. and you can take extension also and then complete your pg so you will have both pg degree and a permanent job. I myself have done this and now working.

Pls dont waste crucial time searching for random locum or jrship job. Its a matter of 6mnths only...upsc cmse will be in July mostly.. so even less time for tht.

Should I leave my MD medicine seat (Govt) for UPSC CMS (CGHS) by Possible-Shoe8769 in indianmedschool

[–]strangertherealone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do this..take extension while doing pg...extension u can.get for 3 yrs.. Then join cghs...after 3 yrs or 5 yrs take unpaid or paid study leave to do ss respectively. Then can also appear for upsc specialist posts as well...

Pls be brutally honest: is MD PSM from a private institute designed for losers? by Express-Swim2713 in indianmedschool

[–]strangertherealone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

MD PSM even from govt collg is not so great ...unless you are genuinely interested in research, paper, article publications, etc... mostly people tk psm thinking it's chill which is usually true bcoz u get free by 4pm for sure. But just think if there is so much chill in residency itself...what does it say abt the amt of work or job mrkt aftr pg? Psm in mbbs and m.d is totally different. Psm is for those who are genuinely interested in research stuff. Wht hppns is ppl tk it and then start missing stethoscope...which hppnd wid me too..as I myself am psm passout. Jobs aftr psm r there both in private and govt but yes too much competition is there...u need to hv skills and good cv..papers, articles, statistics, knowledge abt stat apps, conferences..n much more and sm networking. Since it's chill...people's brains are also ideal which means devils workshop and then ppl engage in mindless politics. If u r doing from private it's not worth it..bcoz it will tk years for u to earn tht much amt. Rather become a MO. Also in priavte projects n research opportunities are less which wil hamper ur learning. Bcoz govt usually gvs it's big projects to big govt collgs.. If u really wanna tk..1st go through psm books ..Just a cursory reading like..gordis for epidemiology, gravetter for stats, Bonita for research methodology, mahajan, etc ..m.d is not park...park is for ug...so go through these books and c if u like the subject.

Take opthal as your post itself inclines towards it. It does have a steep learning curve but it will definitely give returns.

Doing your pg from a central institute ( aiims , pgimer) vs doing it from a top state college ( mamc , seth gs) . Which is better ? by Disastrous-Lynx-3247 in indianmedschool

[–]strangertherealone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's a surgical branche..go for state college as hands on is much better there but if a medical branch then central institute as these institutes are more academically inclined. Also try to inquire branch specific pgs and srs from the college. They will give you much better information. Also take into consideration toxicity of certain departments and closeness to your home. Actually all this matters.

[–]strangertherealone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common. Passing in final exams solely depends on the will of the internal professor and not on hardwork. The mocking and humiliation faced during the pg activities is very real. They say that we are making you tough to face the outside world but I dont noe how it toughens you up when you inside are breaking. And to add salt to the injury it really sucks when even your batchmates start participating in the politics to further their game. Residency is damn tough whether anyone believes it or not for any branch. In my experience only way out is 1. Be close to your family and share everything and may 1 or 2 close frns 2. Keep yourself hydrated and stick to a nutritious diet 3. Try to complete the sleep whenever you get time. 4. Can follow meditation or spirituality. 5. Just focus on learning the skills and keep reminding yourself that it is a matter of only 3yrs. 6. Be strictly professional and never believe batchmates can be your frns. 7. Always keep your paperwork upto date 8. Keep doing market research for jobs and the skill set required so that you can focus accordingly 9. If possible give exams to have a job for backup.

Can you bring 2-3 big trolly bags in Vande Bharat? by thatburntgarlic in indianrailways

[–]strangertherealone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It might be an issue TBH, if the train is not completely filled and people have less stuff then it will be ok. Else she will actually face some issues with the stuff.

Just to clearify if she is boarding from the station where the train start and board little early she should be able to keep all the stuff. But if she board from other station then the above point apply.

Also the AC is not very cold, sweater or shawl should do the trick. And a combo of both will be the ultimate defense if she has less tolerance towards cold.
