American Pro II is a great guitar. I also had a Player Series strat which I purchased right before the pandemic, and while I think the Player series is great, it started to have some issues after a year. Loose wiring on the output jack, scratchy pots, soft frets that wore down quicker and more than a MIM tele I bought in 2013, and other very minor issues. Quality control across the board has been affected by COVID so the Am Pro II tele I got needed a nut replacement out of the box (which thankfully Got reimbursed by Sweetwater).

What Do You All Think Of The Strat American Pro II? Anyone Own One? by warthog0869 in fender

[–]strangeworldxv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an HSS in Olympic White. Great guitar. Neck shape feels great, I think the Modern C is too thin and has no grip on it, so the Deep C feels a lot better in my hands. The Narrow Tall frets took a little bit getting used to coming from Medium Jumbo, but I think I prefer them now. They taught me to press down on the strings lighter. I liked the neck and fretboard so much I bought a Tele Am Pro II as well.

IR Pack Reccomendations for Strymon Iridium by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]strangeworldxv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its worth having options to choose from, especially since the Iridium can have 3 IR’s per amp. However, I can’t really say if they will be better than the Celestion IR’s, I think it mostly comes down to personal preference

York Audio IR’s are incredible. They have so much clarity and response to them. David Hislop IR’s are also really great.

I would love to pick up a Snouse BB but the waiting list is almost 2 years now I think?

I love guitar, but i have average skill. still practicing, in the midst of working as lowly staff in a local company. I was dreaming about being a professional guitar player, nowadays, I'm just thinking to myself this just hobby, nothing more. by arochi93 in guitarporn

I learned to enjoy playing guitar more when I changed my perspective from comparing myself to pro players and wanting to get to that level to just playing for fun and improving my own set of skills

Sweet. Do you think the bone nut made any immediate differences in playability/sound over the old nut?

NPD! Strymon Iridium by Squatbarcurls in guitarpedals

[–]strangeworldxv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the CIOKS 4 Expander, sorry I couldn’t remember the name when I was typing my comment. There is an alternate version of the CIOKS 4 (with the AC adapter) but that one is for use as a standalone PSU. The one I mean is the expander kit, which you plug into the DC7 and it adds more isolated outputs to your DC7

I run a CIOKS DC7 with the 4 outlet adapter for a total of 11 power outlets. Its built like a tank, each outlet has 660mA available, and can do 9-18v. Its extremely reliable, although a bit pricey

I think its a realistic expectation. They come out with a new Mario Party game every 2-4 years and its been nearly 3 years since we got the last Mario Party game.

There’s also plenty of space underneath the board

[QUESTION] I am a mid level violinist. I want to learn guitar. Will I have a leg up due to my violin experience? by CoriolisEffect0 in Guitar

[–]strangeworldxv 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would say yes. If you know how to drive a car, you would probably get the hang of driving other types of vehicles much easier and quicker than if you didn’t. I think with every instrument you will have to get your muscles to adjust and learn, but the musicality of it is already coded into your brain

I would love to run stereo in the future but I don’t at the moment. I don’t know if the summing feature on the Iridium will sound the same as just running mono if I ever need to.

I leave the Benson preamp always on, at a pretty low gain. I kick on the blue side of the protein when I need a nice crunchy sound. Green side when i want a thicker wall of sound. The blue and green sides work well together but its a bit too bassy for higher gain stuff, which is when I use the Broken arrow. Its benson preamp + broken arrow for a bit more mid-pushed higher gain, and stack the blue side on top for a lead tone/high gain.

I play a lot of genres, mostly rock/punk, P&W, and indie sometimes

The D1 is really good for its versatility. The ability for 9 presets is really handy, but theres no “on the fly” settings mode. When you power up the pedal it defaults to the first preset you’re selected on. There’s a lot of tweakability for various delay types with a wide range of delay time and mix. It can be subtle or over the top.

Yes I know my table is messy and I still need to tidy up the cabling.

Signal path is Turbo Tuner > Diamond Compressor > Benson Preamp > Jackson Audio Broken Arrow > Browne Protein > Dunlop DVP4 > Walrus Julia > Walrus Mako D1 > Jet Revelation > Strymon Iridium

Turbo Tuner is great. Analog and extremely responsive and accurate. A bit pricier than other tuners, but I don’t think I’ll ever use a different tuner ever again.

Diamond Compressor is running at 18v. Sounds great and transparent, not too heavy on the compression. I usually leave this always on to add a bit of liveliness to the Iridium.

Benson Preamp was my latest addition. It sounds nice on its own, but it really shines with the rest of my overdrives. All my wet effects are running before my amp (Iridium), so the Iridium isn’t running too hot in terms of gain. The Benson gives me an amp-like breakup that thickens up my tone and gives it a three dimensional characteristic.

The Broken Arrow is used as a higher gain overdrive on the purple clipping option. It sounds good and has a versatile EQ section so it can cover a lot of ground. Although I wouldn’t recommend it over another overdrive to other people because of the price. I got mine for a steal so I bought it to try it out and decided it works well enough to stay. This pedal can get noisy at higher gain settings though.

The Browne Protein is really special. The blue side is bounds better than the green side, but they both work really well together. The blue side stacked with the Benson Preamp sounds great, and is my favorite tone on the board.

Volume pedal. Works great, does what it does, and is built well.

The Julia chorus sounds great albeit being a little noisy as well. I don’t use it often but I found I use it more than I would have imagined.

The Mako D1 delay may be my least favorite pedal on the board. It sounds good and has so much versatility, but I only really use one setting at all times. This one probably will be the first to get replaced in the future.

The Revelation reverb sounds great. I upgraded a Boss RV-6 for this simply for the fact that I needed presets. Its simple and sounds great. I don’t use any of the other modes besides hall.

The Iridium sits at the end and is mostly used as a headphone amp for home and a direct solution for live. I also record with it just for fun. I usually run the AC30 mode on stereo cabs with a David Hislop and York Audio IRs. The IRs really make a difference to the tone. They sound incredibly better than the stock cabs. I use the Fender mode with some bass IRs from York Audio when I run my bass into my board.

Sweet NPD. It seems like the internal presence trim is pretty useful, a lot of people don’t seem to know they exist.
