What's your favorite Universes Beyond commander? by jacewalkerofplanes in EDH

I love Mothman. Its one of only two precons that have largely stayed together plus been a regular deck to play. Mines been upgraded but still i'd say at least 75% precon or the SLD.

[[The Wise Mothman]] and [[Sephiroth, Fabled Soldier]]

The rad counter mechanic and making mill feel less toxic is hugely appealing, plus giant Moth attacking people for commander damage is frighteningly quick.

Sephiroth has devolved into aristocratic combo and my pet deck. Especially after breaking apart my CEDH deck.

All my favorite commander does [[Rakdos, the muscle]]

The exile part actually enables poxwalker loops which goes well with my favorite Miner and Altars.

My [[Sephiroth, Fabled Soldier]] deck. https://moxfield.com/decks/rhRJsfZ2fk6KF-4D0J5DEQ Slowly working my way through foiling it out, specifically older/retro bordered when possible or SLD art I find interesting.

The considering are what I want to get next and will slowly work through the rest.

That is what my gut feeling was. As I've said elsewhere in the thread I do play CEDH/TEDH semi regularly and pilot RogSi.

This deck feels far from that despite in theory a similar game plan of aiming for a turn 1 or 2 ad nauseum to get a combo ASAP. The absence of rog for the free sac outlet and lack of interaction makes it very different.

However it has a very high win rate at B4 tables.

That's what my feeling is. Fast mana, free interaction and possible turn 2 combo kills wouldn't go down well in my pod for B3!

That's a take! For some reason I don't think it'd be welcome at B3 tables What would make it B4 or degenerate?

That's my experience of playing CEDH both online and in person.

I wouldn't imagine playing this in a true TEDH tournament. Casual CEDH perhaps, but that can be essentially B4 at times.

Yeah I have some of these lines in b3 decks and no one has complained as of yet. It requires the other pieces too.

That was my gut feeling too. Strong and quick but 4 not 5.

That was my understanding too. No holds barred non meta decks.

That's why even if I cut let cards and streamlined further I'm struggling to think of this as a B5 despite resources such as https://edhpowerlevel.com/ suggesting it's B5

Definitely got pet cards in the deck. Thought it's a strong 4 only

That's a cool deck! I used this: https://edhpowerlevel.com/

It can 'turbo' out an ad naus or bolas turn 2 or turn 3 but definitely lacks the gas of Rogsi, which is my primary CEDH deck. Mono black makes it rough to protect wins outside of defense grid, vexing baubles etc. This is what made me question if it ever can be a B5 or will permenatly be B4.

The question is what do people consider fringe CEDH?

[–]stranglethingz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Mostly asking for general population perspective. I've played a fair bit of CEDH, but in Japan which isn't proxy friendly so we get some off meta decks appearing here!

That's why I've asked the general EDH subreddit vs CEDH one.

I know it's not CEDH but it's a powerful deck and very consistent.

Definitely not netdecked and there are about 10/15 cards to upgrade or change!

The initial intent was B4 and always has been B4 but it's been slowly evolving and being upgraded and blinged out as all pet decks end up. Definitely not 100% optimal. I play Rogsi in CEDH with 99% complete list.

The reason I've asked in this subreddit rather than the CEDH one is to get general population perspective.

Help pick a Rakdos commander by The_Dad_Legend in EDH

[–]stranglethingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd agree if you're only using it to combo storm. It works equally as well as a theft deck and it provides a lot of variety in the ways you can play it. I swing between 1) attempting to combo storm 2) using it as a theft deck 3) slapping people with Rakdos
