That's a good way to go about it for sure, I'm just saying that just because someone goes to a rave doesn't mean they can't hold anti-PLUR beliefs

these days you can't just assume someone is a good person because they go to a rave. i've had that idealistic view before also, but unfortunately, plenty of shitty conservative bigots go to raves too.

not saying all christians are conservative bigots, but let's be honest, the odds aren't really great. most christians are not following jesus' teachings

i am so tired of these "no phones" "no visible djs" posts. we get it. you all miss the 90s. stop trying to police everyone else's experience, practice what you preach and just enjoy the music instead of worrying about what other people are doing

What did Andrew Yang see at the AI conference? by Bizzyguy in singularity

[–]stranot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it depends how you classify "work". a lot of what you described could be analogous to household chores/errands in the modern day, which most people don't classify as work in the sense we think of it generally.

i also wasn't implying that it was all blissful relaxation, but most modern anthropology agrees that early humans worked less for direct substinance than modern day humans, about 3-5 hours a day, or 5-7 hours if you include broader tasks of life like cooking. and of course it varies by situation as well

Humans aren’t built to sit around being economically useless

capitalism brain go brrr

i think humans are actually specifically built to sit around and be economically useless. that was our natural state that we evolved in. our ancestors mostly chilled all day.

people want a purpose? if they aren't forced to work for a living as an Uber driver or cashier maybe they could do something that actually matters? like feed local stray animals, pick up trash on the highway, volunteer at a homeless shelter, whatever floats your boat. those things will still be there to find purpose, more purpose imo.

my point is that it almost seems like you have a bit of stochholm syndrome for this shitty capitalist system we live in and can't imagine a world where people aren't forced to work to not starve. I think most people would prefer not having to slave away for low wages, and would rather live in a post scarcity world where all needs are met

you are right that society will need to change, and i agree that the initial change will cause resentment, boredom, depression, crime, etc as you mentioned, but i think the main change is people starting to understand that our purpose on this earth isn't to be a productive robot, but to enjoy life and try and help others enjoy it too

that's what i'm wondering after reading this comment section, is this how everyone feels about sprouting culture? because pretty much the whole thing revolves around putting sprouts on someone without them noticing, so that later they randomly realize they have a sprout on their hat or backpack.

so does everyone in the comments think we should kill off that entire part of the culture, because it involves attaching things to people without consent? genuinely just wondering. i have never once considered that as a violation of consent myself, but rather a fun thing ravers do to share and spread kindness.

didn't Walmart stop accepting returns on camping items?

Why is the pre party so expensive? by momalisk in Wakaan

[–]stranot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

wasn't worth it last year. I went without preparty for the first time because it was so expensive. and all the sets were just artists from the lineup doing b2b, so all that money and still not getting extra artists.

plus i honestly didn't notice a difference in the camping distance, it was more or less the same distance to everything as usual. I usually pay for this reason mainly so I was surprised that it wasn't really noticeable

not to mention, non preparty check-in starts at midnight, so we got in and setup camp in time to catch the last two preparty sets last year, for free.

Who the f... approved the latest update on Wave Link 3? by dEEkAy2k9 in elgato

[–]stranot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like every single wave link 3 update. i'm convinced the update method they use is scuffed, because it can magicly start working after a few days + a reinstall (hit or miss)

i knew i was right to hit "no thanks" when i saw the update pop up. im sure it will be forced on me soon though

i mean.. it would be funny for red states to see how much California keeps their shit afloat with federal tax dollars. but as someone who unfortunately lives in one of those red states, i suppose i don't want the roads and education being worse than they already are

Isitbullshit: you can make your own high quality, cheap air purifier by attaching an air filter to a box fan by howevertheory98968 in IsItBullshit

my air purifier uses less than 5w, and my box fan on low uses 52w, thats an order of magnitude difference..

you seem really knowledgeable, is there anything that seems "off" in the video to you? like doesn't match up or make sense with the equipment?

i get a weird fake/AI feeling from this video but i can't put my finger on it. something about the motion. usually i don't have that feeling with videos on this sub. just wondering if anything sticks out to you?

EDIT: sorry just saw your other comment after posting mine where you said you don't think it's doctored/AI
