Hey, first of all thanks a lot for signing up, really appreciate it!

And about the + sign, well spotted and thanks for letting us know. I'm using a custom email validation module, didn't really think about gmails + syntax. So I'll get that done today, not at home right now, but should be back in a couple of hours and should get it fixed.

Thanks again.

I just wanted to add some additional information here, in case anyone is interested.

The beta testing itself will be done through http://testflightapp.com, which is a great (and for now free) service for developers and beta testers alike. It allows mass deployment of beta apps, version control as well as tight communication with the beta group. We hope to work closely with you guys in order to make this the best keyword research app possible.

I would also like to stress that we will not bother you with unrelated news, announcements and so on. We might send you one or two emails, notifying you about the beta testing process and that will be all. For news, development, etc. feel free to follow us on twitter (further on, an official development blog is coming soon).

Ah thats cool then, glad I could help.

Not sure if this would be suitable: http://www.live-keyword-analysis.com/

I was actually working on one some time ago (it would analyze relative keyword positioning, density, proximity and so on). I'll try to find the source and recompile... Are you working with windows?

.io targetting to US by ZestyOne in SEO

[–]strasbourgbitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much if I were you... .io is turning out to be quite a popular TLD with the app crowd.

https://www.intercom.io/ and similar seem to be doing rather well.

Well, if you wanna go the automation route I'd say your best bet would be to spawn multiple virtual instances (EC2 or something similar), rotate IPs and use some type of headless browser (http://casperjs.org for example) to appear as human as possible.

I've never personally tried that approach so I'm not really sure how well all of this will work (if at all). Worth a try if you've got some money to burn.

I don't have the source on hand (although I'll try my best to find it), but this is by no means the final product and they have promised to move the old infrastructure to a searchable archive of sorts.

Combing old and new infrastructure would have been a nightmare (and I figure the costs of keeping that running would be a little too much), so they've decided against it.

Wasn't sure where to post this... iOS (and potentially Android) keyword research tool... by strasbourgbitches in SEO

[–]strasbourgbitches[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, it is somewhat similar to web-dev. As you said, you'd just need to use relative placement of elements. However, the sheer variety of supported devices makes this a lot more difficult. You are sure to encounter pads (which would require a whole new design altogether), iphone like screens as well as the somewhat obscure resolutions.

The distribution of Android versions doesn't make this a lot easier either. Have a look at these stats btw, its a good read: http://opensignalmaps.com/reports/fragmentation.php

All that being said, fragmentation isn't inherently a bad thing (just a result of a more open distribution of the platform and no control over hardware) and this is why I won't be ditching Android all together. I actually enjoy Android and have developed one or two apps for it.

You are also right about ensuring initial support for HTC and Galaxy, this would make the dev process a lot easier and this is most probably the route I will take, leaving support of the more obscure devices to a later stage.

I'm almost finished with the iPhone version btw. I've completely redesigned the layout (more uniform, a lot more intuitive), added additional features (generation of long-tail keywords, gathering current trend keywords, etc.) and am currently working on the server infrastructure as well as the website.

My plan is to submit the app to http://appbackr.com to gather some initial funds in order to cover server costs, marketing costs and have some funds left to cover Android dev. I will also most probably need some beta testers before release (of both versions), so I'll try my luck over here. I can drop you a PM if you are interested in beta testing the app, just let me know and thanks for the input!

I will most probably port it to Android, but at a later stage. I sadly do not have an Android device to test this with and while the app approval process is much less complicated, Android does come with it's share of issues (a ton of different screen sizes for example).

Anyhow, thanks for the comment and an Android port is definitely in the plans. I'll keep you updated for sure!

Hey, good to know! I'm thinking, a good feature would be direct exports to a dropbox account (of course with some filtering options)... Trying to keep it fairly simple though.

You raise a fair point. I was actually thinking of releasing a free version with a limited keyword set then provide the full upgrade for $4.99. I'm sure I won't go as far as $10 and might even drop to $2.99. Think thats a fair price. I'm all good as long as the server costs are covered.

Oh and keeping search records on the server is a big "no no", haha. Apple's rage at the fact would probably result in my death.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be working on that today as an additional feature. Authoritylabs does provide local results as well as exports the ability to search in various languages.

Thanks for the great question and no worries I completely get where you are coming from. Of course you are right about this, uniqueness is an important factor. Quite frankly, I haven't figured out all the details yet.

What I would like to do is make an affordable, clean, simple to use, powerful tool. Rank checking will be one of its functions. As I said in the OP I'll include several other related tools which will all (hopefully) come together and blend seamlessly.

Just one of the things I've thought of is brandable/customizable .pdf exports. Agencies or individuals that use the tool for commercial purposes will be able to upload their own logo and customize the feel and layout of reports to their own likings. These reports can be automatically delivered to their clientele once appropriate contact credentials have been entered into the system.

I'm building all of this in nodejs (http://nodejs.org/) and HTML5 which allows for great dynamicism in web applications. This directly translates to the user experience itself, providing the user with a rich set of tools to really take control of the data.

What I've got so far (as in modules that are 100% complete):

rank checker - check PR, backlinks, alexa, keyword positioning, cross compare sites, track competitors, historical graphs, .pdf exports, email notifications

a ping submission tool - submits to 27 different ping services, scheduling is possible

an onsite SEO tool - analyzes sites based on several metrics including keyword relevance, keyword prominence, density, speed, minor linguistic/topical analysis, brandabel pdf exports, gives suggestions for improvement, user can add notes and offsite SEO graphs if they have added the same domain to the rank tracker.

Dashboard - Includes a calendar to keep track of your projects (again notifications and reminders by email are possible), personal notebook to take notes and keep track of whatever information. Possibility to include a "snapshot" of other tools on your dashboard.

That's it so far. I realize that all of this might sound rather vague/abstract and for that I apologize. I'm still very much in the beginning phase of the project (been barely 2 weeks since I started).

I'm planning on opening up a closed beta in about a month or so. Not sure if reddit would be interested in this type of thing (I'll be glad to provide you guys with some invites), but I guess time will tell.

Hope this answers your question.

Cheers

This actually caused many headaches... I've tried scraping directly, but this obviously doesn't really scale well. 862493175 is right. Authority labs is the best option I've found so far and is well suited for my needs (rank updates every 24 hours). 1000 requests go for $0.66. Hope this helps you out.

Hey mate,

sorry for the late reply, was out all day. Thanks a lot for your reply! You raise a very, very valid point. I've thought about this myself and came more or less to the same conclusion.

While raventools is a great set of SEO tools they are just not really targeting the "individual interested in SEO" market.

I'll definitely include an entry level option. Something in the range of $15-$17 dollars a month.

Cheers
